Raw vs. Dyed: The power of post-processing. ⚡️

While raw MJF (PA12) is known for its incredible strength and isotropic properties, the aesthetic finish is what takes a drone mockup from a "concept" to a "product."

We’re looking at a side-by-side of the same drone frame:

Raw: High-detail, matte gray, functional.

Dyed: Deep black finish, UV stable, and ready for the field.

We were thrilled to welcome a television crew to Lunia 3D in the summer as part of Ne-wff-ion, the BBC/S4C programme that brings news and stories to life for younger audiences.

It was a fantastic experience sharing what we do and showing how creativity, technology and 3D printing intersect right here in Cardiff and beyond.

Being featured on the show gave us a chance to highlight our work and the people behind it to a wider audience. We’re proud to be part of a story that inspires curiosity and learning in the next generation.

Ever wondered what the real difference is between FDM and MJF 3D printing?
In this quick comparison, we printed the same part on both technologies — one in PETG (FDM) and one in PA12 (MJF).

The FDM part took 30 minutes to print a single piece and actually snapped on a thin section.
Meanwhile, the MJF printer produced around 1,300 parts in a single 16-hour build, all perfectly strong and consistent.

We use both FDM and MJF here at Lunia 3D — each has its place, but this video shows exactly why MJF is the go-to choice for production-grade parts.
