We built the Gridfit app ourselves, because we could not find anything on the market that did what we needed.

The latest update goes further than ever. Here is what it now does.

✔️ For administrators, you can view monthly hours, shift counts, and daily worker numbers across every active site at a glance. Clients receive their own login to track project completion as a percentage, updated daily, so there are no surprises about where their job stands.
✔️ Electronic Risk Assessment Method Statements have replaced paper copies entirely. Every worker signs on digitally, and the records are stored and searchable.
✔️ The system captures daily plant inspection sheets, full delivery logs with photos showing what came in, what went out, and when, as well as a site photo record that documents progress from ground-break to handover.
✔️ Workers check in and out with a timestamped photo and a GPS location record. Every hour is logged and verifiable.
✔️ All personnel credentials are stored in the app too: CSCS cards, qualifications, plant tickets, manual handling certification, and emergency contact details.
✔️ Each client gets their own portal. When the project completes, the record is theirs.

Not many contractors in this sector operate at this level of traceability. We do, and it is something our clients consistently tell us they value.

Three new T76 Bobcats joined the Gridfit fleet this week, taking us to five T76s and two T66s, all owned outright.

Each machine is fully equipped: cutting heads, auger bits, sweepers, and excavator attachments. Jack and Goose went together to collect them, which felt like the right way to mark the moment.

Owning your plant matters on large-scale solar projects. When we tell a client we can mobilise on a certain date, we mean it. The equipment is ours, the transport is ours, and the team to operate it is ours. There is no dependency on a hire firm's availability.

For EPCs and developers managing tight programmes, that is not a small thing.

A 13MW ground mount project in the East Midlands has been completed and handed over to the client.

Structure installed. Panels in. Full documentation, drawings, and specifications delivered.

Large-scale projects like this do not complete themselves. They require a team that shows up every day, works to programme, and deals with whatever the site throws at them without losing momentum. That is what our team did.

This project adds to our growing portfolio with over 75 completed jobs. Each one is different. Each one gets the same level of commitment.

Mikey Porter is back in action this weekend for Round 2 of the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe at Brands Hatch.

Mikey competes with Optimum Motorsport and McLaren, having come into this season with serious preparation behind him, including the Dubai 24 Hours and the Abu Dhabi 6 Hours as part of his build-up. Alongside co-driver Guilherme Oliveira, the goal is to mount a strong Silver Cup challenge across the full season.

Round 1 at Circuit Paul Ricard is behind them. This weekend is the next step.

Gridfit are proud to support Mikey throughout the 2026 campaign. We follow every result closely, and we are backing him and the Optimum team hard this weekend.

The frame is now up on our current 11.2MW ground mount project in the South West, and this week we took the opportunity to visit the site, review progress and celebrate with the team. ☀️🔧

What better way to mark the moment than with burritos and tacos in the rain 🌯🌮🌧️, courtesy of El Bandido Catering.

It was a great chance to share the occasion with our valued clients, ALT-Group and Solar Mounting, and to thank everyone involved for their hard work in bringing the project to this stage in just four weeks 👏

The 2026 GB4 season gets underway at Silverstone this weekend, and Gridfit-sponsored Holly_Miall_Racing is on the grid.

Holly heads into her second GB4 season with KMR Sport, one of the most successful outfits in British single-seater racing. Having built her foundations over two seasons in the Ginetta Junior Championship before stepping up to GB4 in 2025, she enters 2026 with clear ambitions: to fight at the front of the field and work towards a future in F1 Academy.

Every GB4 race this season is live-streamed on the GB4 YouTube channel, so there is no excuse not to watch.

Simon Gillen, as known as Goose, joins us as Head of Construction, bringing with him a career built almost entirely on large-scale ground mount solar.

He has spent years working with high-end EPCs and manufacturers. His knowledge of ground mount solar is second to none - from pile testing and structure design through to programme delivery, it is deep and hard-won. 👊

In June 2025, the UK government published its Solar Roadmap, committing to grow the country's solar capacity from around 19GW to over 50GW by the end of the decade.

That ambition is welcome. But targets on paper require contractors on the ground who can actually deliver at scale.

For EPCs and energy developers, the pipeline this creates is substantial. The challenge is finding experienced partners who can mobilise at pace, manage complex site conditions, and deliver to programme without the delays that have historically plagued large infrastructure projects.

Gridfit were founded precisely to address that gap. Four years in, with over 75 completed projects and 10GW of installations, we are well placed for what the next five years will bring.

For commercial and industrial clients, a solar installation is one element of a larger construction or development programme. It needs to fit a timeline, work around other trades, and complete without drama.

Gridfit have delivered ground mount and commercial solar projects for clients including Amazon, DPD, Cummins, and Cooks Foods. Each one came with its own site conditions, programme pressures, and scope requirements.

Our approach is consistent: understand the project, mobilise quickly, and deliver what we said we would.

Large-scale solar does not always happen in convenient locations. Ground mount sites in particular can be remote, with access roads that test both equipment and patience.
