Through our partnership with Ecologi, we’re proud to share that we’ve been awarded a badge for helping prevent 100 tonnes of CO2 from entering our atmosphere! 🙌

That's the same amount of carbon as over 100 return flights for one passenger from London to New York! This achievement reflects our commitment to making more sustainable choices and reducing our environmental impact.

We are getting another step closer to our goal of helping the planet repair faster, ecosystems flourishing again and getting our air cleaner. 💚

We are very pleased to announce that Jonstar is now a certified SolShare installer! 🥳

SolShare is the world’s only hardware for connecting multiple flats to a single rooftop PV array. Classed as a direct connection of solar to flats – achieving maximum SAP score uplift – it’s used by social housing providers and property developers across the UK to reach their EPC goals and reduce the energy bills of every household.

This is a very exciting development! Innovative solutions like this are key to building a more sustainable future—one where everyone can benefit from solar.

Check out this impressive roof solar at King's Cross Station in London! Not installed by us, but we can still marvel in its beauty - 1,392 custom made glass laminate solar panels embedded into the station's glass roof!

Installed in 2012 as part of Network Rail’s green building programme, it’s estimated that the 240kW system will produce around 175,000kWh of electricity and should save 100 tonnes of CO2. This is a massive achievement and is taking us one step closer to a cleaner, greener future.

It's Feedback Friday! 🌟

We love ending the week on a high, and this one is definitely worth sharing! We recently installed Solar PV on a school in South Derbyshire, and the client gave us a perfect 10/10 score across all categories! 🙌 They even left a lovely note at the end saying “very professional to work with and excellent communication with the technical requirements.”

Delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions and leaving a client happy and satisfied is exactly what we strive for, so feedback like this means a lot to our team.

Jonstar has been involved with several projects at County Hall for Leicestershire County Council – from new installations, maintenance work, and upgrades to the existing systems that had failed.

As part of a major decarbonisation initiative in 2021, our team installed solar PV systems across the Rutland Building, Pen Lloyd Higher and Lower Roofs. Together, these installations total 227.25kWp and help reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 37.04 tonnes of CO₂ every year.

We also carried out a full assessment of the existing PV systems on site. With several inverters offline and beyond their warranty period, we proposed upgrading the systems to SolarEdge technology. This upgrade gave a new lease of life, improving energy output, enhancing fire safety, and extending the system warranty to 12 years. In total, 86.45kWp of existing systems were successfully upgraded across three arrays.

Altogether, Jonstar has now been involved in deploying and upgrading 313.7kWp of solar PV at County Hall, Leicester.

The weather might be terrible at the moment, but that doesn’t stop our team from getting geared up and helping to create a greener future, one panel at a time!

We recently installed 140x DAS Solar panels at a limestone quarry on the isle of Portland!

The PV array features SolarEdge S1000 optimisers which is all fed back to a SolarEdge SE50K 3 Phase Inverter, which is backed by 19.4kWh of batteries for excess energy!

The quarry is operated by an environmental agency, known for it’s natural stone products and ongoing restoration projects. The solar power that has been installed here will help to save 14.32 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, and will also have the equivalent affect of 658 trees planted every year!

We want to say a big thanks to all the install teams and suppliers for their help and support during the project.

At Jonstar, we believe that clean energy should never come at the cost of human rights. As we help businesses and homes transition to sustainable power, we’re equally committed to ensuring that every part of our supply chain reflects our modern slavery policy. That’s why we take proactive steps to ensure that all whom we work with aligns with the highest ethical standards.

In 2021 a report titled “In Broad Daylight” released by the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice at Sheffield Hallam University shone a spotlight on the issues around Uyghur forced labour and global solar supply chains.

Despite being a small cog in that global supply chain industry at Jonstar we feel it vital that we pay close attention to our supply chain. Currently we only install solar panels that from manufacturers that hold SA8000 certification. SA8000 is a voluntary, internationally recognized standard for social accountability in the workplace, created by Social Accountability International (SAI). It provides a framework for organizations to demonstrate commitment to fair labour practices by adhering to requirements in nine core areas, including child labour, forced labour, health and safety, and freedom of association. Achieving SA8000 certification shows an organization is committed to ethical employment and helps reduce risks while improving reputation and stakeholder relationships.

We now also have the Solar Stewardship Initiative for distributors and manufacturers, which sets out a standard for traceability within our supply chain.

As a company we have been working with many of our clients concerns over modern slavery in the supply chain and regularly see it appearing more often within tenders.

Jonstar have now embarked on our journey with the Supply Chain School to further improve how we approach modern slavery, not just with our manufacturers but also with our own boots on the ground. This has started with recent training and completing an initial company assessment with a view to identifying our risks and what we are doing and can do further to mitigate them.

Sustainability isn’t just about the energy we produce – it’s about the world we create. It’s Jonstar’s mission to help shape a brighter, fairer future in every way possible!
