We're delighted to be one of this seasons sponsors of the U12's team at the excellent Harlow Rugby Club. An amazing group of lads both on and off the pitch, surrounded by awesome coaches and dedicated support staff they are shaping up to be the team to beat!

The lads are playing Cheshunt at the Saracens StoneX stadium on Sunday the 6th of October at 11am, and will be holding the Big Shirt on the pitch to welcome the Saracens players when they face the Exeter Chiefs at 3pm, hopefully they will appear on TNT Sports TV!

Happy ductwork day!
We've had a run installing some fully ducted systems and recently won the contract to install a 40kW Daikin VRV system into a house with 9 ducted indoor units.. yes a lot of cooling and heating for a residential property, but this is quite a hefty new build.
This system is having the plaster-in type of slot diffuser in each zone for both supply and return air, so all you see are crisp slots in the ceiling when finished, no frames or screws round the edge. These are the ultimate high end 'designer' look. Due to the high cost of these we don't get to do many, so this is a treat for us too!

We are installing this system now so more to come as it progresses, but here's a first fix taster.. In one bedroom the project designers located a supply diffuser in a tricky place, joists and a huge steel beam right in the way. The project manager had several AC professionals that looked before us and said it was not feasible to get the rigid steel ductwork to these locations, impossible was one word used.
We love a challenge!
Some out of the box thinking took place, we designed and fabricated some custom plenums - these are the air boxes that connect the round duct pipes to the back of the slot diffuser. With the custom plenums and a rejig of the ductwork piping (reduced the diameters but increased the qty of them to get the airflow) we were able to squeeze it all into the tight space, no issues.
Now all ready for plastering, the designers and project managers are delighted.. Boom!

Delighted to work with the All Garden Rooms team again and install a Fujitsu mini-split AC heat pump to cool and heat this absolutely stunning garden room near Hoddesdon.

It's been all about repairs recently! Had a call from one of our customers who operate a large Turkish restaurant to look at a Toshiba that wasn't working at all.

With this being a new site to us we checked the large system over and found a wiring issue at one of the outdoor units, moisture had got in and tracked up the cable and caused severe galvanic corrosion at the terminal, the damaged connections then overheated and went into meltdown... eeek!

We did some basic electrical tests and concluded it was worth renewing the cable to see if the system had suffered any serious damage. In went a new cable, waterproof glands and we terminated all connections properly to be able to power it back on, and... it was back up and perfectly!
Very lucky that there was no damage to the system components, this could easily have been an expensive repair, a complete new system, or even worse...
This is one of the many things we check during an annual check and service to ensure problems like this aren't brewing, it's not just about cleaning filters - well, not for us anyway!

Absolutely loving these cute NavTek battery powered vacuum pumps for small mini-split installations, they are small, quiet, light and so much easier to lug up ladders than the heavy mains powered pumps. Quickly get small systems into that essential deep vacuum, not quite as fast as a mains pump can but having a few minutes rest when you're on your third installation of the day isn't a bad thing! 🥵

Finished a very interesting install this week, 2 zones in a post production recording studio where they do high quality editing and mixing of dialogue and sounds in many documentaries, series and films for TV/SKY/Netflix etc.
Great to talk to the team there and find out about this little known and very skilled profession.

To help control the runaway heat build up at their studio we installed a 2 zone Fujitsu multi-split with WiFi/app/SMART control, a 2.5kW Fujitsu system to keep the hall/waiting area comfy, and a 4kW in the sound effects studio (which is a room, within a room, within a building!) where they make and record sound clips of.. literally anything!
A lot of attention was paid to making everything as quiet as possible so as not to interfere with recordings. We used remote reservoir condensate pumps and lots of sound and vibration reduction methods to minimise any sounds from the air conditioning system.
The landlord requested that the outdoor unit to be housed in some way to help make it blend in to its surroundings. Whilst the building is commercial it's also a historic malting factory with a prominent black wood facade, so we made a matching cover that doesn't restrict airflow through the system.

I've seen a few old fridges/freezers being left out for the scrap man to collect, please don't do this people!

Unscrupulous metal collectors are highly likely to just cut out the valuable compressor from inside the appliance and leave the bulk of the worthless unit where it is.
Fridges and freezers contain a refrigerant and oil under pressure that will be released when the compressor is just cut out. This can be illegal, environmentally damaging (ozone/global warming/contamination) and some fridges/freezers contain a highly flammable refrigerant, very dangerous if the system is cut into by a non-professional.

To dispose of your old fridge or freezer safely and responsibly, please consider:

* Taking it to your local Household Recycling Centre if possible.
* Some appliance sellers will take the old fridge when the new one is delivered - for a small fee.
* Using the council bulk waste collection scheme.
* Finding a local registered waste carrier to take it away.
