Here are some before and during photos from a project along The Beach in Deal. Alterations to a 1st & 2nd floor maisonette, including a long load bearing wall removed at 1st floor.
A number of issues to be aware of during the structural engineering, not least ensuring the works did not affect other flats to the two floors below.
The client will be leaving the steelwork on show, using intumescent paint for fireproofing.

I rarely get to see properties when they are finished, I'm usually on site beforehand or during construction.
Here are a couple of photos from a vaulted roof extension I worked on alongside Conker Conservation.
Steel frame to the rear window and internal 'tension' ties and wall plate 'beams' in lieu of a structural ridge beam.
The extension was of timber frame construction, using 220x45 Steico joists as wall studs, which is an uncommon method, but when the void is infilled with insulation makes for a very high performing insulated panel.

Here are some photos from a property in Ashford where I am undertaking remedial works to the roof in collaboration with Conker Conservation.
The property is Georgian Era but the roof is constructed from timbers taken from a much earlier timber frame property, possibly Tudor.
The wall plates have mouldings, the collars have wood carvings (possibly from a dais beam) and I don't think there are two pieces of timbers of the same size!
Unfortunately due to some poor jointing and undersized timbers the roof and ceiling have started to sag and water has penetrated in other areas leading to decay, therefore structural intervention was required.
All of the original timber will be retained and new, strengthening timbers will be placed alongside.
