This is terrible news and our thoughts go out to their families. If you're camping, please be aware that any fossil fuel burning heating or cooking source, can create Carbon Monoxide. Relatively low concentrations of CO can be lethal within minutes. It''s all too common for this kind of tragedy to occur within the confines of a tent. Make sure you're not using a BBQ, or other cooking appliances inside the tent, or its porch. Even just warming the tent for a short time can be deadly. Always cook outside of the tent, ensuring any cooking appliances particularly fires and BBQ's are a decent distance from the tent and extinguished fully before you go to bed.

April price increases on some gas boilers are up to 12.5%! Some boilers have gone up in price by around 31% since Covid. Some of this is manufacturer profiteering, but in large part, this is the direct result of the green lobby pushing to penalise the sale and use of gas boilers, LONG before our energy infrastructure, or even the housing stock itself, is ready for it. Long before the levies on electricity have actually changed to support lower electricity bills.

The left, yet again, proving why the world is migrating to the political right! We are fans of heat pumps and supporters of electrification and a reduced (not exported) Carbon footprint. We are politically homeless, but what we see is the hysterical climate emergency left, pushing you to poverty and "drill-baby-drill," on the other extreme. The speech by Kemi Badenoch demonstrated a much more reasoned and sensible approach.

There is so much wrong with the heating industry. So much grant money wasted and directed in the wrong areas. We need to be around the tables of these discussions! Maybe we shouldn't write such a politicised post on our business page, but this whole thing just angers us. We see, at the coal-face, people really struggling when their boiler breaks to beyond economical repair and they have no choice but to replace it. This is going to make A LOT more people struggle more than is necessary, but hey, at least we're being greener!

(Let's ignore; the manufacturing processes; the human rights violations; the wars fought over precious minerals; the fact that we need the oil and gas industry to grease the fan bearings; coat the electric cables in PVC insulation and refrigerant gas, for the heat pumps. Let's ignore the transport CO2 output for all these components shipped halfway around the world. And most of all, let's ignore the CRIPPLING financial cost to those who can LEAST AFFORD IT)!

If your boiler has been ropey over this winter, are you confident that it will last through another one?

A new boiler can be an expensive purchase. Did you know that you can see what loans and credit card deals are available to you, with a 'soft credit check'? You can check this through places like https://www.experian.co.uk and it doesn't effect your credit score.

Some companies offer 0% Interest on installations, but they may not always be the most competitive financial products on the market.

We now accept card payments and even options like Afterpay and Klarna which could be helpful.

This fire was literally a death trap. Did you know that you can die from Carbon Monoxide poisoning, within minutes?

As fun as it is to hear Michael Scott scream "No!" when we condemn a gas appliance, we don't do it lightly and the serious side of it is, that we might just have saved some lives today. Cost them money, but not their life!

Yesterday's installation. The customer's old Vaillant UK Turbomax was still happily working away, after TWENTY YEARS of almost faultless service! It was arguably THE BEST EVER MADE! It has been donated to Skills Training Group, starting it's new life teaching our new generation of gas engineers with live, working, older boilers, that are still found in service today.

The customer just wanted a more efficient boiler and opted to stick with a reliable Vaillant. Looking after their modern EcoTec range, we have some of them coming up to 16 years old. The 20 year old design of this boiler has been redeveloped with some more modern and energy efficient features. Their build quality prides itself on the pedigree, stemming from models like the Turbomax.

We did this job for Aspect Heating Ltd, in Sauchie. My old boss and the man that taught me my trade and we're still in touch after first meeting 19 years ago! It was pleasure working for them, for their customer, fitting a quality Vaillant product and seeing the old one going on, to continue a serviceable life. It was a great day!
