TOP SAFETY TIPS : ABRASIVE WHEELS 🥽🦺
Did you know that almost half of accidents from using abrasive wheels are a result of operator error or unsafe working conditions?
Our Abrasive Wheels training course has been designed to equip operators with the key skills and knowledge for safe, competent operation of abrasive wheels machinery.
The course covers every essential aspect of operating abrasive wheel machinery to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98). To find out more, head on over to www.jtwtraining.com!
Before your training day, take a look below at some of our top safety tips when working with Abrasive Wheels!
1. Inspect before use – Just like you would check your car before driving, make sure to check your abrasive wheel machinery for any cracks, chips or damage before use! 👓
2. Use the right wheel – Not every match is made in heaven. Make sure to check if the material you are cutting is appropriate for your abrasive wheel. 🛞
3. Wear proper PPE – Even if it makes you feel silly, all PPE designed for abrasive wheel use has come from a series of unfortunate accidents. Make sure to wear your safety glasses, face shield, gloves, and hearing protection.
4. Maintain correct speed – Slow and steady wins the race. Never exceed the wheel’s rated RPM.
5. Secure the workpiece – Any slips might result in a nasty injury. Ensure all materials are clamped or stable before use.
6. Stand clear at start-up – Let the wheel reach full speed before use.
7. Keep guards in place – Safeguards are there for a good reason! Never remove or bypass safety guards. 🦺
8. First Aid – Even if you follow all of the safeguards, sometimes things can still go wrong. Having up to date first aid training is your last line of defence against any accidents that may occur (to yourself or to those around you). ⛑️
Safety isn’t optional—it’s essential. Make sure to reach out today at www.jtwtraining.com to ensure your workplace receives the top class abrasive wheel training it deserves. 💪
