Project Progress Update!

Highline is pleased to share the great progress made on our LEV replacement project for a key client.

The project spans multiple laboratory areas and involves the removal of outdated LEV systems and installation of state-of-the-art LEV BSC containment devices - enhancing performance and safety across the client’s R&D facilities.

As the turnkey Principal Contractor, Highline is managing all aspects of delivery, including SAT commissioning, equipment validation, HVAC upgrades, service connections, and lab refurbishments.

We’re delighted to report the successful completion of 4 key phases, with users now operating their new equipment as we maintain momentum on the remaining construction stages.

We’re proud to share fantastic progress on one of our major laboratory remodelling projects for a key client. The project remains firmly on track for completion in the coming months. It has been a testament to the outstanding collaboration and dedication of everyone involved.

Key milestones achieved so far include:

Full installation and inspection of 1st fix MEP services
Extensive HVAC modifications
Upgrades to electrical systems and laboratory gases
Installation of specialist containment devices
Extensive design, manufacture, and installation of lab furniture
Architectural glazing and finishes progressing well and on track

The team is now shifting focus to 2nd fix works and the start of systems commissioning, bringing the lab space into full compliance ahead of SAT for the new containment devices and lab equipment migration.

This next phase will also support the relocation of scientific teams into their new, state of the art environment, making their R&D processes more streamlined.

For the last couple of months, one of Highline’s own has been facing an incredibly difficult time. Project Manager, Alan Vella’s 11 year old daughter Isabelle has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer.

We are reaching out to raise awareness to the “Hope for Isabelle” GoFundMe page. All donations are going towards Isabelle’s rehabilitation and physiotherapy.

On the 28th April, Highline were proud to support our client by hosting an interactive stand for World Safety and Health at Work Day 2025.

As Principal Contractor, we take our responsibility to plan, monitor and manage health and safety risks on our sites seriously. During the day our team were able to show case some of our completed and in progress projects. We also used this opportunity to engage with others on what their hazard perception was by completing the spot the hazard challenge.

Thank you to everyone who visited our stand. We look forward to attending next year and helping build a culture of care and accountability.

This week Highline will be supporting Global Asbestos Awareness Week which runs from 1st April to the 7th April.

Our SHEQ Manager has developed daily awareness guidance which will be shared with the team to enhance their knowledge of working in environments where there is a potential for asbestos containing materials to be present.

All of our onsite team complete annual UKATA Asbestos Awareness Training. Highline have recently enrolled additional staff to expand their knowledge further by attending the BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Buildings course. This course has been selected to successfully manage the extensive removal of asbestos for one of our newest projects.

Highline is proud to announce the successful completion of a single-storey extension for one of our long standing pharma clients!

Our team expertly delivered this project while the adjacent main reception remained operational, completing the following works:

• Groundworks & Drainage: New drainage, car park soakaway, and a concrete raft slab foundation to support the new steel frame structure

• Steel Frame & External Envelope: SFS lining, rainscreen cladding, curtain walling and a Kingspan roof

• Internal Fit-Out & Structural Modifications: Cutting through the existing Metsec structure to form a new doorway & lobby

• MEP Installations: Air conditioning, heating, LED lighting and life safety equipment

A job well done by the entire team!
