It's time for your January to-do list!

You've probably got deep-cleaning the kitchen and organising the 'Monica' cupboard on your January lists- but why not add these gas-safety tasks to ensure you stay safe and warm this winter:

✅ Test your Carbon Monoxide alarm to make sure it's working. If you don't have one, head to your local DIY/ Hardware store and pick one up. It could save your life.

✅ Make sure any insulation on external pipework is in good condition to protect the pipes from freezing in cold weather.

✅ Check if you’re eligible to join the Priority Services Register (PSR). The PSR helps gas and electricity companies look after customers who have additional communication, access or safety needs.

✅ Bleed your radiators to ensure they are working efficiently to keep your home warm this winter.

✅ Book a service for your boiler and gas appliances. Make sure this is with a Gas Safe Register engineer.

Out with old in with new, a customer had lost a fair few keys to their old lock so decided to get a new one, 3 star supplied with 5 keys 😎

New remote for this Peugeot 207 today in Leeds. The customer's only remote was broken, having to manually open the door with the lock can be a pain especially in colder weather when it's frozen . 🥶

Did you know that now is the perfect time of the year to get your boiler and gas appliances tested?

As the days get colder, you may be thinking about turning your central heating on.

But before you do, you may want to consider getting your boiler and gas appliances checked out by a Gas Safe Register Engineer 👩‍🔧👨‍🔧

Kris' boiler was due for a service, but as happens when you have a busy family life, they forgot about it and left it be. Then one day, Carly, his wife, called him to say their Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm near their boiler was going off, even after changing the batteries.

A call out to the National Gas Emergency helpline, and 20 minutes later, an NGN engineer was at their house. A reading confirmed that their boiler was, in fact leaking CO into their home.

A Gas Safe Registered Engineer checked and made the boiler safe, but the incident has put gas safety at the forefront of the family's minds. In Kris' own words: “It’s just not worth the risk. Please check your appliances and get a CO alarm. It could save your life.”
