This weekend has been spent heavily upgrading this customer's heating system.
Now I do love a Baxi Duo-Tec 40kW, but this particular example was rather old and tired with numerous faults, and in all honesty, not truly fit for purpose.
The only sensible replacement for this appliance in this large multiple bathroom property was the Viessmann 111W storage combi, these innovative wall mounted gas boilers offer the impressive flow rates of an unvented cylinder without the large footprint required by a seperate DHW cylinder and regular or system boiler.
The new appliance is rather large dimensionally in comparison to the Baxi it is replacing, and therefore extensive pipework modification was required.
The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that the mag filter on the Baxi was actually only filtering the downstairs circuit, which is not ideal.
I have spent an abundance of time flushing the existing radiators (which were absolutely filthy) prior to connecting the flow and return to the new Viessmann as I don't believe in flushing dirty system water through a brand new appliance.
As always I have paired the 100 series appliance with the excellent Viessmann Vitotrol 100-E smart, load compensating room thermostat, offering wifi connectivity for the customer to control their heating from anywhere in the world, and live data monitoring for myself as the engineer.
The 12 year parts and labour warranty gives peace of mind, a great install and a great product.
