Decommissioning purge successfully completed by Purge Point Installations on a large system using a Venturi purge ejector, safely removing approximately 20m³ of gas from the installation.

The purge was carried out using a controlled, staged valve opening sequence to ensure a steady draw and complete displacement of residual gas from all sections of the line. This approach helps confirm that no dead legs or trapped volumes remain, while maintaining full control over flow rates and system pressures throughout the operation.

The Venturi purge ejector operates by introducing compressed air across a venturi, creating a pressure differential that induces a vacuum. This draws gas from the system and entrains it into a high-velocity discharge stream, enabling safe dilution and removal without the need for mechanical extraction equipment.
All works completed in line with safe purging practices, leaving the system fully decommissioned and ready for follow-on works.

Another successful large-scale decommissioning purge completed by Purge Point

This project involved multiple Nitrogen (N₂) purges to safely decommission the installation, ensuring the system was left fully compliant and risk-free.

🚨 Emergency Gas Repair Completed 🚨

This job was carried out as an emergency call-out to repair a gas leak and safely restore the supply.

The issue was resolved quickly and efficiently, minimising downtime for the client.

Situations like this highlight the importance of proactive maintenance — routine testing and inspections can prevent costly breakdowns and unexpected shutdowns. Reactive maintenance often ends up being far more disruptive and expensive.

Purge Point Installations LLP recently completed a decommissioning purge for a large industrial client as part of a project to remove an old furnace from site.
To ensure the highest safety standards and avoid hot works, all pipework was cut using a reciprocating saw.

We also had confirmation of asbestos gaskets within the line, so our team carefully cut either side of the flanges to allow a licensed asbestos removal contractor to safely bag and dispose of the materials.

Another job completed safely and in full compliance — teamwork, planning and communication are key on projects like these.

🔧 Project Completion – Purge Point Installations LLP

Another successful job completed by the Purge Point team.

This project involved carrying out a controlled gas purge in accordance with Gas Safe regulations and IGEM/UP/1A standards, to safely isolate and disconnect obsolete steam generators while maintaining continuity of the existing gas supply.

Our engineers undertook positional welding to 6G standards (ASME IX / ISO 9606-1) to reinstate the system to the highest quality and compliance levels. The works also included the removal of a large low-level valve arrangement fabricated from legacy 3” screwed (threaded) pipework, which was replaced and securely capped off to current specifications.

All works were completed under strict adherence to Purge Point’s Health and Safety and quality systems, ensuring full compliance and traceability throughout.

Conversion from Natural Gas to LPG Completed ✅

This week, Purge Point Installations carried out a project involving the conversion of an existing natural gas supply to LPG for one of our clients.

The works included:
🔹 Making a controlled break into the existing high-pressure gas line
🔹 Installing a second-stage regulator to safely manage downstream pressures
🔹 Fitting a new inline gas meter to monitor usage

The route for this installation was a little more challenging than usual, as the client requested the equipment to be installed right next to the canal to keep it clear of traffic movement on site — but our team delivered as planned!

Another safe, efficient, and compliant installation completed. ✅
