At times, we need to speak some uncomfortable truths to make our country stronger. I have said this before and let me repeat it, for the sake of religious pluralism, the national cathedral must be built at all cost. If there’s national mosque, there must be national cathedral. It’s just that simple.

Most of the European countries I’ve travelled to have these national cathedrals that draw millions of tourists every year. Our big men who are opposing it have travelled to Europe and other countries, taken pictures visiting these cathedrals but still oppose it just for political reasons.

If there’s corruption related issues with its building, it should be prosecuted but the project must not die.

After completing it, we should hand it over to those who can recover our money for us through the tourism potential of the edifice. We cannot just bury $58 million in the ground and just forget about it like that.

NANA ADDO SPENT $1B TO CELEBRATE GHANA AND WAS ABLE TO PAY TEACHER'S, NURSES AND OTHERS

If Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo spent $1 billion to organize such an event to celebrate Ghana and was still able to pay teachers, nurses, security personnel, and other government workers, then that is far better than organizing what looks like a funeral for Ghana with only 100 cedis while being unable to pay teachers, nurses, security personnel, and other government workers.

6th March is Ghana's Independence Day. It is a day to celebrate our nation and our history.

Regardless of the situation, we must mark the day in a way that reflects the pride and dignity of Ghana and makes history.
