As climate ambition accelerates globally, the gap between commitments and real world delivery remains a defining challenge, particularly for African economies balancing development priorities. This roundtable brings together policy experts, analysts, and practitioners to explore how innovation can move beyond ideas into practical and scalable solutions. Held on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings, it offers a timely space for candid discussion on what it takes to deliver effective climate action.

โ€œFrom Innovation to Implementation: Rethinking Climate Action Through an African Policy Labโ€ will examine how governance, institutional capacity, and inclusive systems can unlock real progress. The session will look at the structural barriers that slow implementation while highlighting practical approaches that align climate goals with economic growth and energy security.

Convened by leading policy institutions, the event aims to promote a more coordinated and ex*****on focused approach to climate action. By bringing together stakeholders across sectors, it seeks to bridge the gap between ambition and results, advancing a more resilient and inclusive climate agenda for Africa.

Future of Energy Conference 2025 was not just another conference.

It was a moment to reflect on how Africa can move beyond the resource paradox by leveraging innovation to finance the continentโ€™s energy future through unlocking investments for energy access and economic transformation.

Building on the insights and commitments from 2025, the 2026 Future of Energy Conference takes the conversation further focusing on the structural drivers of energy costs, infrastructure readiness, and industrial energy competitiveness.

The goal is clear: to ensure that Africaโ€™s value addition and industrialisation ambitions are not just envisioned, but practically achievable.

We recently convened an engaging and insightful two-day seminar at University of Energy and Natural Resources in collaboration with the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.

On day one, our Policy Lead for Energy Transition and Climate Change, Dr. Charles G. Ofori, led a thought-provoking session on โ€œEnergy Transition in Africa: Balancing Development and Justice,โ€ challenging students to think critically about their role in shaping the continentโ€™s energy future.

Day two focused on Natural Gas Management and Commercialisation, facilitated by Joseph Willie Amoah, PhD, equipping students with practical insights to complement their academic learning.

The sessions were impactful, bridging theory and practice, and helping students better understand the relevance of their studies in a rapidly evolving world.

We are grateful to Dr. Yaw Akyampon Boakye-Ansah for hosting us and also to the amazing executives of the Resource Governance Campus Hub for the coordination and planning.

They are thinkers, doers, and change makers, young leaders stepping boldly into the space of energy, governance, and accountability. Each of them brings fresh perspectives, curiosity, and a shared commitment to shaping a more transparent, inclusive, and sustainable future for Africa.

At ACEP, we believe that real change is driven by people, and investing in the next generation is investing in the future we all want to see. Through this journey, our NextGens are not only learning, they are contributing, questioning, and leading conversations that matter.

Weโ€™re proud to walk this path with them.

Ghana continues to face significant fiscal and macroeconomic pressures from rising public debt to persistent gaps in public financial management. While reforms are underway, challenges in accountability and oversight remain.

Despite a more informed and digitally connected youth population, sustained engagement on fiscal governance is still limited.

To help bridge this gap, ACEP through its Youth Champions for Fiscal Accountability, a more focused, output-driven, and action-oriented fellowship, over a three-day period, equipped over 40 young people with practical skills in budget tracking, fiscal analysis, and audit follow-up, while strengthening their ability to translate complex fiscal data into clear advocacy messages and public interest content.
