Headline: Grand Inauguration of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Alumni Society at University of Cape Coast

Cape Coast, Ghana - The University of Cape Coast (UCC) witnessed a momentous occasion as the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology celebrated the grand inauguration of the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Alumni Society. The ceremony, held at the SMS Auditorium, marked the culmination of the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Students Association of Ghana (MOBBSAG) Week celebration, where exceptional first-class students across various levels were honored with certificates and cash prizes.
Esteemed guests in attendance included Prof. Sarfo, the outgoing Dean of the School of Biological Sciences, who expressed his enthusiasm for the event and commended the organizers for their remarkable efforts. Prof. Sarfo conveyed warm greetings from the Vice Chancellor and the Provost of the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, emphasizing the importance of hosting such events on a regular basis.
Prof. Aaron T. Asare, the incoming Dean of the School of Biological Sciences and the outgoing head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, expressed his delight in witnessing the realization of this significant milestone. He outlined the department's ambitious plans to establish a Center for Biotechnology Research at the University of Cape Coast, highlighting the ongoing review of the MBB program. Prof. Asare earnestly appealed to the alumni to actively engage and contribute to the department's initiatives.
Dr. Daniel S. Agyirifo, the Chairman of the event and patron of MOBBSAG, passionately advocated for alumni support, emphasizing the importance of fostering a strong connection with the alumni community.
During his address, the Alumni President, Ebenezer Eduam Afful, presented a comprehensive array of action plans, including the implementation of an alumni award scheme for the best graduating student, an alumni mentorship program, and support for internships, among other initiatives.
Mr. Emmanuel W. Dokurugu, a regulatory officer with the Food and Drugs Authority, delivered an outstanding speech as the guest speaker. His address focused on the theme "Employability and Career Success of MBB Graduates: Bridging the Gap Between the Teaching Space and the Industry." Mr. Dokurugu emphasized the significance of equipping oneself with essential soft skills and seizing every opportunity to enhance employability and achieve success in the dynamic field of molecular biology and biotechnology.
The program concluded successfully, with the Mobbsag President and Executive extending their heartfelt appreciation to the alumni for their unwavering support.
The inauguration of the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Alumni Society marks a significant milestone in the growth and development of the field at the University of Cape Coast.
