CSIR–Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (CSIR-SARI recently welcomed Members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Environment, Science and Technology to our headquarters in Nyankpala. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase our research facilities, including new yam breeding technologies and improved rice seed development, while engaging in discussions on strengthening support for agricultural research in Ghana.

Our Director, Dr. Francis K**i, highlighted CSIR-SARI’s contributions to national food security and the challenges of funding and staff capacity. Members of Parliament expressed commitment to advocating for stronger and more sustainable support for the Institute.

This engagement marks an important step toward deepening collaboration between policymakers and research institutions for a food-secure Ghana.

Meet Mr. Anafo, a hardworking farmer from the Bongo District in the Upper East Region. 🌾ðr
He is one of the many farmers who have successfully adopted the SRI method after participating in trainings and field demonstrations under the RICOWAS project. The results are encouraging, and stories like his show how improved practices can boost productivity and strengthen livelihoods across our farming communities.
Together, we continue to support farmers with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.
