Our Quarterly Mini Clinic Van Has Arrived in Akaporiso Community!

Great news for the people of Akaporiso and neighbouring communities in the Obuasi East Municipality. AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine is bringing free health screening and treatment right to your doorstep through our Third Quarter Mini Clinic.

Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals will be on hand to provide a range of essential medical services, including cardiovascular screening, general health screening, and free medication.

This life-changing initiative is made possible through our valued partnership with Quantum Ltd, the National Cardiothoracic Centre, AGA Health Foundation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, and the Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal Assemblies. Together, we are working to build healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.

Keeping Obuasi Clean, Healthy and Sustainable

As part of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP) and the unwavering commitment to promoting Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), the Mine has donated 2 tricycles and 400 waste bins to the Keeping Obuasi Clean Campaign (KOCC) Committee.

The tricycles will support waste collection across the Obuasi East and the Obuasi Municipalities, while the waste bins will be strategically positioned at vantage points to promote responsible waste disposal and improve the cleanliness of public spaces.

The Chief Executive for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, speaking on behalf of the two municipalities, commended the Mine for its sustained investments in initiatives that promote the health and wellbeing of communities.

The KOCC Committee expressed appreciation for the donation and committed to using the items effectively to achieve the desired impact.
Through practical partnerships like these, AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine continues to support cleaner environments, healthier communities and sustainable development outcomes across the Obuasi enclave.

Today on , we shine the spotlight on our two recently commissioned projects: the Apitikooko and Dokyiwaa/Binsere Health centres.

The two health centres form part of our commitment to improving access to quality healthcare and reducing the doctor-to-patient ratio within the Obuasi enclave under our 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan.

The Apitikooko Health Centre, together with its staff quarters, was constructed at a cost of GHS 4.1 million, while the Dokyiwaa/Binsere Health Centre cost approximately GHS 2.7 million.

Together, these projects reflect our commitment to building healthier, more resilient communities.

During our quarter two safety week celebration, we reinforced our commitment to improving the safety culture across the mine through stand down sessions, commitment pledges and sensitization programs.

A unique highlight of the celebration was the symposium organized for spouses of employees and contractors.

This helped to deepen the understanding of spouses on fatigue management and the vital role they play in supporting the wellbeing of our employees, both at home and in the workplace.

Improving access to quality healthcare remains central to AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s 10- year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP).

Last week, we partnered with the AGA Health Foundation, Megaforce Security, Procrest Africa, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Ghana Health Service, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ghana (SOGOG), the Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East Municipal assemblies, to hold our second community health outreach in 2026, dubbed Mini Clinic, at Obuasi Zongo, reaching 897 people on the day.

A team of healthcare professionals provided a wide range of free medical services from general consultations to laboratory examinations, dental care, drug dispensing, HIV counselling and testing, as well as eye, ear, nose, and throat screening. It also featured health education on uterine fibroids, stressing the importance of early diagnosis.

Since its introduction in 2021, more than 20,000 people have benefited from the Mini Clinic initiative, reflecting our commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting healthier, more resilient communities.

Improving access to quality healthcare is essential to building stronger and more resilient communities.

AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine has donated USD30,000 to support the construction of a new 60-bed ward complex at the Ghana Police Hospital in Accra.

The contribution will help expand the hospital’s capacity, improving healthcare delivery for police personnel and the wider public.

Presenting the cheque on behalf of AGA, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, Senior Manager, Community Relations, Africa, reaffirmed the company’s appreciation for its longstanding partnership with the Ghana Police Service, a partnership that aligns with the Obuasi Mine’s 10-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan, prioritizing investments that improve community wellbeing and strengthen national institutions.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police, COP Dr. Daniel Kwame Afriyie, Director-General of the Private Security Organisation Directorate, received the donation and expressed appreciation to AGA for its continued support.

Through strategic investments in critical healthcare infrastructure and partnerships with communities and key national institutions, AGA continues to create lasting value for its host communities, living its purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies.

HEALTHCARE AT YOUR DOORSTEP!

AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine, in partnership with AGA Health Foundation (AGAHF), Procrest Africa, MegaForce Security Services, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, Ghana Health Service, the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, and the Obuasi East District Assembly, will extend the quarterly FREE health screening, also known as the Mini Clinic, to the people of Zongo in the Obuasi Municipality.

Health personnel will be on hand on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, to offer free TB testing, gynaecological screening, eye screening, OPD consultations, dental services, blood pressure and glucose checks, nutritional counselling, BMI assessment, and more.

As part of its quarterly engagement with the media, AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine recently organised a two-day Digital Tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Applications Training for media practitioners in Obuasi.

Held under the Mine’s stakeholder capacity-building programme, the training equipped journalists, radio presenters, online publishers and other media professionals with practical digital and AI skills to enhance news gathering, content creation, factchecking and audience engagement in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape.

Participants gained hands-on experience and insights on AI-powered tools for writing, cyber security, multimedia production, social media management, data analysis and digital storytelling, while exploring the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence in journalism.

The initiative underscores AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s commitment to empowering the local media with the knowledge and tools needed to deliver accurate, balanced and impactful stories, while embracing the opportunities presented by emerging technologies.

Participants commended the Obuasi Mine for its continued investment in media capacity building, describing the initiative as timely and valuable, reaffirming the Mine’s role as a trusted partner in the socio-economic development of Obuasi.
