📢 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 - 𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁

Yesterday, the consortium held its final online review meeting (M54) together with the European Commission.

Over the past 54 months, iclimabuilt project has established itself as an 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗱, supporting the development, upscaling, and validation of advanced building envelope materials and systems.

📢 𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙀𝙃𝙑𝘼 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙡!

A new study supported by tested two ventilated window prototypes at the 𝘡𝘌𝘉 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘢𝘣 (NTNU, Trondheim 🇳🇴):

🔹 Basic design with plates
🔹 Advanced version with an omniphobic coating + 3D-printed acoustic absorber

🔎 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀:
✅ Advanced design reduced indoor noise by 2–3 dB, but with lower airflow and post-PCM efficiency
✅ Both systems achieved effective solar preheating (~55% before PCM, ~70% after PCM), with the basic design delivering slightly higher efficiency due to greater airflow

This study is the result of a strong collaboration between INEGI driving science & innovation, Politecnico di Torino, ITA.Instituto Tecnologico de Aragon, TU Dresden, and HTWK Leipzig, showcasing the value of joint efforts in driving innovation for .

The research presents the development and validation of 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀 with basalt fibre skins and recycled extruded polystyrene cores, including a variant enhanced with phase change materials and silica aerogels for improved thermal regulation and acoustic performance.

Performance was rigorously assessed through laboratory tests, numerical simulations, and real-world monitoring in a . Results highlight the potential of multifunctional, eco-friendly panels to lower operational energy demand and contribute to the goals of the .
