Engineer killed after old bomb he tried to cut open explodes - Thanks to Andre Mazur of Fugro Hong Kong for forwarding this: a catastrophe resulting from a poor and uninformed assessment made by a civil engineer. This was in the Philippines but interestingly, in Hong Kong civil engineers constantly reject the need for professional UXO risk management:

Usually, police or military explosive ordnance disposal teams are called in to dispose of unexploded ordnance that are sometimes found in construction sites.
