🚧 3 Mistakes to Avoid When Automating Your Gate 🚧

An automated gate can make everyday life much more convenient, yet whether the system will be usable in the long run is often determined as early as the planning stage.

The three most common mistakes:
1️⃣ We choose a system that has worked well elsewhere—but doesn’t function smoothly in the specific environment.
2️⃣ We rely on a single communication method, only to discover later how stable it is at that particular location.
3️⃣ We only account for current user needs, which makes the system difficult to expand later on.

In our article, we’ll explain in detail exactly what to look out for, what questions to ask before installation, and how to avoid these three mistakes.

📱 Open the gate with your phone - no remote control needed

It’s a familiar situation: the remote control isn’t handy, the battery’s dead, or no one knows where it is.

In a single-family home, this is annoying. In apartment buildings, on business premises, or at larger companies, it quickly becomes difficult to manage if every user needs their own remote control.

Phone-based gate access offers a more convenient and flexible solution. The gate can be controlled via phone call, text message, mobile app, or Bluetooth connection, and the right system also manages user permissions.

🔹 Everyone can use their own phone
🔹 Access permissions can be easily modified or revoked
🔹 You can track who opened the gate and when
🔹 It can operate with a GSM/4G system even without an internet connection
🔹 It can be used in single-family homes, apartment buildings, and industrial sites

In the background, a communication module receives the command sent from the phone, verifies authorization, and then activates the gate. In this way, the system also assists with access management.

In our new article, we explain how phone-based gate control works, what technologies are available, and which solutions are practical in which environments.

💡 Did you know? Due to the gradual phase-out of 2G networks, you’ll also need to prepare to replace older GSM systems.

Do you have any customers who still use a GSM alarm, gate opener, intercom, or emergency call system installed years ago?

If so, there’s a good chance the system includes a device that still communicates exclusively via the 2G network.

These devices may still be working right now, so it’s easy to think that we can wait to address them until a replacement is actually necessary. However, it’s much simpler to review your systems in a timely manner to identify which ones might be affected and plan the upgrade in advance.

🔎 Think it through:
✔ Which of your customers may still be using devices that operate exclusively on 2G?
✔ Which systems may require replacement?
✔ During which maintenance visits can the upgrade be performed?
✔ And ensure that 4G-compatible devices are installed in new setups.

The following systems should be checked first and foremost:
🔹 alarm and remote monitoring communicators,
🔹 elevator and emergency call systems,
🔹 gate and barrier controls,
🔹 GSM intercoms,
🔹 industrial and automation solutions.

One important detail: simply replacing the SIM card does not make the device 4G-capable on its own. This requires a device equipped with a compatible modem, antenna, and communication hardware.

ASC Global offers a variety of 4G-compatible solutions for alarm communication, gate control, GSM intercoms, as well as elevator and emergency call systems.

If you have an older 2G device and are unsure about replacing it, please send us the model number or system specifications. We’ll help you select the right 4G solution and can work with you to plan the replacement.

📩 It’s a good idea to start the assessment early. Contact us, and let’s work together to identify which systems may need to be upgraded!

🛰️ Safety even where cell service ends

A satellite emergency beacon can provide real safety in far more situations than you might think at first. It can happen at any time during an ordinary outing:
🥾 a sprained ankle while hiking
⛈️ a sudden storm
📱 a dead cell phone
📶 or an area with weak or no cell service

That’s why ZOLEO can be just as much a part of your gear as a headlamp or a first-aid kit.

Satellite communication can also provide significant safety during fieldwork. Whether in vast farm fields, remote sites, or construction or industrial areas, it’s important to be able to call for help in case of an emergency.

🛰️ ZOLEO communicates via a satellite network, ensuring connectivity even in remote areas with poor coverage.

👉 In our article, we’ll show you how it works, who can really benefit from it, and in what situations it can provide extra safety.

👵 For many families with elderly relatives living alone, figuring out how to quickly call for help in the event of an unexpected situation is a daily concern.

An emergency call system can be a great help in such situations: with the push of a button, the user can alert a family member, caregiver, or remote monitoring service.

📡 The communication infrastructure plays a key role in ensuring the system’s reliable operation. ASC Global offers GSM/4G repeaters that enable communication for emergency call and alarm systems via mobile networks.

This is essential because it ensures that the signal reaches the designated recipient quickly, and the system’s operation does not depend on a home Wi-Fi connection.

👉 In this article, we explain how emergency call systems for seniors work and what factors to consider when setting up the right system.

🚪 Intercom System for a 4-Unit Condominium: Why Does It Matter Which System You Choose?

As long as the old intercom is working, most people don’t give it much thought. But when it’s time to replace it—or when a new building is being constructed—it suddenly becomes clear: choosing an intercom system isn’t as straightforward as it seems.

The problem is that, as a layperson, it’s hard to navigate the different systems. Yet there are a few questions that can provide a good starting point right from the beginning.
❓ What kind of system is needed for a 4-unit apartment building?
❓ Is the existing wiring sufficient?
❓ Should there be an indoor unit, or should calls come through a cell phone instead?
❓ What happens if the system needs to be expanded later?

An intercom is not actually a single device, but a communication system. It consists of an outdoor unit, an indoor unit, or a mobile connection, and a central unit that manages call routing.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how an intercom system works, the differences between analog, BUS, IP, and GSM solutions, and what to consider before installing one in a condominium.

Radio remote control or mobile control? Both serve a similar purpose, yet they work well in very different situations.

📡 A radio remote control is a simple and cost-effective solution. It responds instantly within a short range, making it well-suited for local control of gates, garage doors, or other home appliances.

📱 Mobile control, on the other hand, operates via the internet or a cellular network. GSM-based systems rely on a communicator that receives commands from a phone and then executes them.

When making your choice, it’s worth considering:
🔸 what range is needed
🔸 how many people will be using the system
🔸 whether a stable internet connection is available
🔸 whether logging and access control are important
🔸 whether you need to control just one gate or a more complex system

ASC Global offers both local radio solutions and GSM-based remote control systems for single-family homes, business premises, and industrial facilities.

👉 In the full article, we compare the operation, advantages, and key applications of radio and mobile control systems.

🚪 Choosing an intercom system seems simple at first, but questions quickly arise: how many units, what type of connection, and is mobile control necessary?

Few people understand how an intercom system works, yet when building a new house, renovating an apartment building, or dealing with a malfunctioning old intercom system, numerous questions arise that require some basic research to answer. Let's take a quick look.

The system basically consists of three main parts:
🔹 an outdoor unit
🔹 an indoor unit
🔹 a communication unit

The visitor rings the bell, the signal reaches the user, and after a conversation, the door or gate can even be opened.
Different types of intercoms are designed for different situations. Analog systems offer a simpler solution, IP/WiFi intercoms operate via the internet, and GSM/4G systems transmit signals over a mobile network.

📱 GSM/4G intercoms can be useful where multiple users need to manage access, remote access is important, or there is no stable internet connection on the property.
For single-family homes and apartment buildings, different factors should be considered when making a choice.

👉 In the full article, we present the different types of intercoms available and explain which solution is a practical choice in which environment.

📶 Security shouldn’t depend on whether you have a stable internet connection at the moment.

An alarm system’s signal is only truly effective if it reaches the user or the remote monitoring center in time. This is especially important at industrial sites, construction sites, vacation homes, or locations with poor internet coverage.

📱 A SIM-card-based alarm, i.e., a GSM-based alarm system, transmits the signal via a mobile network. This allows the system to send notifications even if there is no internet connection or if the network at the given location is not reliable enough.

The GSM communicator transmits the alarm panel’s signal to the user or the monitoring center via SMS, phone call, or app. This allows the user to know exactly what happened, where, and when.

Some GSM communicators can operate with a backup power supply, ensuring that communication between the alarm system and the user is maintained even during a power outage.
