As of December 2023, the installed capacity of solar projects in the Philippines is 1,420.7MW. Wind and solar projects dominate indicative power projects from 2023 to 2028, according to data from the DOE. By 2028, approximately 74% or 15,556.63 MW will be renewable energy, with solar projects accounting for 35% of the total renewable energy projects.
As an archipelagic country, the Philippines needs to deploy 100% national grid coverage. As electricity consumption surges, energy storage is imperative. The Philippines is considering modernizing and deploying its main grid using renewable energy with ESS to better transmit and distribute energy.
