We've had the pleasure of having Shauna Gallagher intern with us for almost 2 months now and she's here for the rest of the Summer. Shauna will start her final year of Business Studies at Sligo IT in September. She has been getting stuck right into the swing of it, learning how to price and compile quotations for renewables jobs, follow up with customers, stock pricing and invoicing. And Alice has been kindly taking her under her wing showing her the exciting world of Autocad drawings, heating designs & how to count and measure roof slates! 😀 Never a dull day... thanks ladies for all your hard work 👌

💡Project Feature: The Diamond, Donegal Town | Lighting Works

Donegal Town's historic public centre underwent a revamp and refurb almost two years ago now. Ferm Eng were the M&E contractor managing the lighting installation and electrical requirements.

By working closely with the client Donegal County Council, the design team and our suppliers, Ferm Eng procured and installed a high-efficiency LED lighting package that delivers:

- Good efficacy - more light output for each watt consumed
- Long life and is maintainable
- Excellent quality with dimming, adaptive and zoning lighting controls and so much more.

Project Team:
Construction - Axis Construction
Design: Doherty Architects
M&E Consultant: Chris Boyle Engineering
M&E Contractor: Ferm Engineering Ltd, Ireland
LED Lighting Supplier: Wink Lighting

After nearly 2 years open now it is has definitely proven to be a successful project with much positive welcomed feedback from locals, councillors and council staff.

And thank you to past colleague and friend Nathan Wray for capturing this drone footage!

2026 is a milestone year for us at Ferm. We've all of a sudden crept up on 20 years of business this coming Autumn. There are so many people and lots of work to be celebrated. This year we're going to be doing just that.

Rewind to 2006, some of our youngest employees are yet to be born, broadband internet isn't around just yet (especially not in Donegal) and the tools and technologies that now assist us in projects, have all evolved.

We look forward to shining a light on the many faces that have come along with us on the evolving business journey... Featuring some of the hundreds of projects and partnerships across M&E and Renewables... A must needed re-brand will be on the cards... A separate business division is being built... A new office is in the works and more job openings will keep us on our feet.

Thank you and stay tuned for more!

👉 THIS is why we love what we do at Ferm Renewables and why we're passionate about providing superior Solar PV systems for our customer's needs.

We love helping customers save money and become both energy and self-sufficient.

Lets look at the numbers...

➡️ Here are snapshots of a customer's most recent electricity bills they sent us.
➡️ The first bill snapshot is for a 2 month period from the 26 September - 24 November '25, total bill amounting to €851.23 (during which there was price increase by the supplier).
➡️ The next bill snapshot is for the following 2 month period from the 25 November '25 - 29 Jan '26 - this bill was €281.46 - almost €600 less than the previous bill and it covered likely one of coldest and highest energy use periods of the year!
➡️ This customer had their Solar PV system installed by Ferm and it was switched on, on 11 December 2025.
➡️ They interestingly are still waiting on their smart meter to be installed so more savings and better rates will also help them save even more when they can avail of that.
➡️ We will say that these savings were from a pretty large system (shown in photos); 10kWp project comprising of a ground mounted setup with 24 panels + 10kWh Sigenergy smart battery. An impressive first return, even after the Winter months.

With the utility industry's soaring electricity prices, this is just one good example of why solar should be considered as an addition to your home. Go direct to a trusted electrical installer and choose local for the best, most honest and fair pricing.

Last week we welcomed a new plumber to the team, Paul, from the Philippines. And here he is in good hands with Fionn Gallagher taking him under his wings and showing him the ropes at Ferm Eng this week.

Interesting fact that the coldest it may get in the Philippines would be 17-20 °C degrees and from a plumbing pov, they wouldn't necessarily specialise in heating at all, rather in cooling! So it's a change in job perspective and climates all round! Welcome to cold and frosty Donegal Paul.
