Google Developer Groups (GDGs) are for developers who are interested in Google's developer technology; everything from the Android, Chrome, Drive, and Google Cloud platforms, to product APIs like the Cast API, Maps API, and YouTube API. Galway is the most rapidly growing city in Ireland in the domain of technology and IT, in the last year, we witnessed large companies such as Apple starting their
business premises in Galway, and many startups are flourishing in the city, one of these startups “Howling Hamster”, an Android game developer company was featured by Google in their IO16 conference. We started Galway chapter in September 2015, because we felt the need for organising technology related events in the city for all those developers and companies. GDG Galway has above 500 followers on Twitter, and Women Techmakers Galway has about 300 followers.
