Ireland imports over 80% of its energy, leaving households and businesses exposed to fossil fuel prices and global markets we can’t control.

But off our east coast, five major offshore wind projects are moving through planning: Oriel, Arklow Bank, North Irish Sea Array, Codling and Dublin Array.

🔹 Together, they could power the equivalent of every Irish home and more.
🔹 They could meet over half of Ireland’s daily electricity demand.
🔹 They could support thousands of jobs and bring millions of euro of investment to coastal communities.

And, importantly, they could help Ireland produce more clean, secure energy here at home.

The wind is there. It simply blows — and always will.

Wind energy is for everyone — that's the message behind Global Wind Day.

As an industry, we're not just building turbines. We're building a cleaner energy system: wind working alongside solar, batteries, and smart grids to meet real demand, reliably and sustainably. We are pushing forward to ensure a safer, more stable future for our families, and their families after that.

Many wind farms across Ireland are open to community visits. Young or old, whether you're fluffy or not 🐶, there are wind farms around the country waiting to be explored. Some are fully accessible, some have bike trails, playgrounds, and other amenities. All of them have clean, renewable energy generated right here in Ireland.

We're proud to be part of an industry that's delivering for people and the planet.

While progress is clear, challenges remain. This plan identifies 18 actions for delivery over the next 12 months.

Key priorities include:

🌬️ An Coimisiún Pleanála must be supported to deliver on its commitment to offshore wind planning decision timelines – including getting the first decision out in September;

🌬️ The CRU, EirGrid and industry must finalise all grid agreements and specifications for the existing east-coast projects so they can connect to the grid;

🌬️ Clarity is needed on Ireland’s future offshore wind pipeline, which sites will be available to progress and when;

🌬️ The Government must publish the National Ports Policy and, where a strong and credible business case is made, facilitate State investment in ports so they can build Irish offshore wind farms.

🌬️ The Government should advance plans for coastal Green Energy Parks which use offshore wind energy to attract new industries and create jobs.
