While progress is clear, challenges remain. This plan identifies 18 actions for delivery over the next 12 months.

Key priorities include:

🌬️ An Coimisiún Pleanála must be supported to deliver on its commitment to offshore wind planning decision timelines – including getting the first decision out in September;

🌬️ The CRU, EirGrid and industry must finalise all grid agreements and specifications for the existing east-coast projects so they can connect to the grid;

🌬️ Clarity is needed on Ireland’s future offshore wind pipeline, which sites will be available to progress and when;

🌬️ The Government must publish the National Ports Policy and, where a strong and credible business case is made, facilitate State investment in ports so they can build Irish offshore wind farms.

🌬️ The Government should advance plans for coastal Green Energy Parks which use offshore wind energy to attract new industries and create jobs.

🌱⚡ Nature + Energy in Action!
After 4 years of research, Wind Energy Ireland Research team shared the power of onshore wind farms beyond energy at the Wind Energy Ireland Annual Conference 2026.
Key takeaways:
🔹 Collaboration = stronger tools
🔹 Smart wind farm planning = thriving biodiversity
🔹 Adaptive management = long-term success
Wind farms can do more than generate renewable energy—they can help fight climate change, boost ecosystems, and support vital services like pollination and clean water. 🌍💚

Weather doesn’t just shape our daily lives, it’s powering our future. In February, wind energy generated 42% of Ireland’s electricity, making it the country’s leading power source. On the windiest days, electricity prices dropped significantly, showing how closely our weather and energy costs are linked.

When the wind blows, Ireland saves money, cuts emissions, and strengthens energy security. When it doesn’t, we’re still exposed to volatile fossil fuel markets.

t’s not just about the electricity grid—it’s about your home. 🏡 Think warmer houses, lower bills, and cleaner air for our kids. That’s the version of Ireland we’re building.
