An evening full of great stories. The St. Patrick’s Construction MeetUp by in Osijek is now behind us. Last week, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in a warm and pleasant atmosphere together with colleagues and partners from the construction industry. This day carries special significance for Irish history, culture, and identity. CroBIM was founded in Ireland in 2018, so this is always a meaningful day for the entire team. 🍀

Building new connections and exchanging ideas and experiences outside the office is something we all need more of. Thank you to everyone who came and contributed to the great atmosphere. Special thanks to our colleagues from for their continuous support and collaboration.

The team visited a steel fabrication facility.
Our senior colleague, Ana Marija Cini organised the visit for our young engineers and designers. The tour was hosted by Ivan Lončar from MAGMA Ltd. and covered the full workflow from BIM modelling to fabrication.

It was useful to see how the 3D model and drawings are translated into cutting, drilling, welding and assembly on the shop floor, and how tolerances, weld access, sequencing and handling requirements influence detailing and design decisions.

Thanks to Ivan and the MAGMA team for hosting us and for sharing practical, experience-based insights.

We had the opportunity to attend – the UK’s leading construction show.

We have been collaborating on a diverse range of projects across Europe, and what consistently amazes us about the Irish construction industry is the incredible versatility of materials used in a single project! From concrete and blocks to bricks, timber, precast concrete, steel, and glass, Irish construction truly showcases a harmonious blend of traditional and modern materials, engaging a variety of trades throughout the project.

We visited our site in Howth for a final inspection of the miscellaneous architectural steelwork that our team worked on the design of for over a year.
Project Claremount is a mixed-use development of residential, retail, restaurant/café, and a crèche in 4 blocks. A ribbon of 3-storey plus attic stacked duplex units faces onto the Howth Road.
Due to the complexity and extent of the work, we decided to 3D scan almost the entire site. This allowed us to deliver a precise design without the need for site adjustments, which was especially beneficial for corrosion protection. The scan was complemented with a few site measurements as a final touch to make it perfect. Thanks to for the scan.

This year, nearly half of our team took on the 5K race as part of the Osijek Ferivi Half Marathon – and we enjoyed every step of it!
Great energy, shared challenges, and plenty of good vibes – the perfect way to bond outside the office.

A Structure Within a Structure: Engineering the Standalone Staircase at the Bonnington Hotel in Dublin

This wasn’t just any staircase—it was a structural feat: a completely independent build housed within the shell of a heritage building.
The project took a bold and unconventional route: we dug down, installed new foundations, and erected an entirely new structure inside the hotel itself.
Building a structure within a structure is not something you see every day. The logistical, architectural, and structural considerations were vast. Every element of the new staircase had to be designed not only for performance and aesthetics but also for transportation to the place of installation. We had to carefully plan the er****on sequence, ensuring that each steel beam could be maneuvered through the building and into its final position.
To tackle these complexities, we leveraged the latest in 3D scanning technology. The entire building was scanned by allowing us to create an accurate digital twin of the space. This scan became the backbone of our coordination efforts, enabling us to model every step of the installation process, identify potential clashes, and validate that each prefabricated piece would fit exactly as planned.

We are excited to be part of the ongoing redevelopment of Ceannt Station in Galway, which commenced in early 2024. The project is being carried out by BAM UK & Ireland for Iarnród Éireann, with substantial completion expected by Q2 2026.
At Crobim, our team is proud to provide detailing and connection design (Paul Sherloc) services for the steel subcontractor. We also ensure seamless collaboration through BIM coordination on the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform, driving efficiency and precision across all project stages.
Although BIM technologies are now a fundamental part of our everyday operations, we are continually amazed by the rapid pace of technological advancements and how they transform our approach to design and construction.

Our senior project manager, Ana Marija Cini, led an insightful visit to a steel fabrication workshop, giving our junior engineers the opportunity to witness firsthand the fabrication of a project they contributed to!
This visit allowed the team to gain a deeper understanding of how their designs come to life on the shop floor, bridging the gap between theoretical planning and real-world ex*****on. Watching their ideas take tangible shape was both empowering and educational, fostering a greater appreciation for the fabrication process.
