Prof. Sheeba Jilani Appointed Chairperson, Department of Chemical Engineering, AMU
ALIGARH, August 12: Prof Sheeba Jilani, Department of Chemical Engineering, Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology (ZHCET), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), has been appointed Chairperson of the department for a period of three years with effect from August 12, 2026.
Prof. Jilani has been associated with the Department of Chemical Engineering since 1990 and has been serving as Professor since October 2020. She completed her B.Sc. in Engineering and M.Sc. in Engineering in Chemical Engineering from AMU and obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Roorkee in 2010.
She has published more than 25 research papers in journals of national and international repute. Her research interests include modelling and simulation of chemical engineering systems, separation processes and environmental engineering. Her work has covered areas such as methane reforming for syngas and hydrogen production, indoor air quality, industrial pollution, and environmental sustainability.
Prof Jilani has also been associated with major sponsored research projects, including studies on grossly polluting industries in the Ganga Basin under the Namami Ganga Programme, funded by the National Mission for Clean Ganga.She is a Life Member of the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers and a member of the Institution of Engineers India.
She has held several academic and administrative responsibilities at ZHCET and AMU, including Coordinator for the NBA accreditation of the department's PG programme, Convener of the Curriculum Development Committee and Member of various Boards of Studies. She is serving as Provost, Abdullah Hall.
