The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised a One-Day Workshop on "Machine Learning". Mr. Shreevyas H M, HOD, Department of ECE, GEC Karwar was the resource person of the workshop. Shreevyas has been identified by Google as a facilitator for its Machine Learning Crash Course for colleges in Karnataka and Goa. During the workshop, Mr. Shreevyas stressed about the importance of Machine Learning and briefed about several Machine Learning algorithms.

During the inaugural ceremony, Principal Dr. Mushtaq Bhavikatti advised the students to upgrade their skill set with trending technology to increase their employability. VTU Exam toppers and achievers were felicitated during the occasion.

The inugural ceremony began with invocation by Mohammed Zia. The event was hosted by Kaleemuddin. HOD Dr. T. M. P. Rajkumar welcomed the gathering. Prof. Shivanand Kulkarni introduced the resource person. Prof. Tasmiya Shaikh proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Shrishail Bhat was the coordinator of the event.

Students of ECE and CSE participated in the workshop.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a Technical Talk on "Significance of LabVIEW and its Applications" on 24 September 2018. Mr. Vasanth Kumar from VI Solutions, Bengaluru was the resource person.

The event was organized on the occasion of inaugural of ECE students' forum Technovate for the current academic year. Some technical events were also organized on the occasion.
