As India introduces its first hydrogen-powered train, Jindal Stainless is proud to have supplied about 40% of the total stainless steel requirement for its coach bodies. The premium austenitic stainless steel grade X5CrNi1810, manufactured at our Jajpur and Hisar plants, is helping power a new chapter in India's clean mobility journey.
Stainless steel has become the material of choice for modern railway coaches because it combines corrosion resistance, crash-worthiness, a high strength-to-weight ratio, fire and impact resistance, durability, and recyclability. Its lightweight properties also improve energy efficiency, making it ideally suited for next-generation mobility solutions such as hydrogen-powered trains.
For us, stainless steel has always been more than a material. It is an enabler of innovation, resilience, and sustainable progress. As India accelerates towards cleaner transportation and an Atmanirbhar Bharat, we are proud to be contributing to infrastructure that is safer, smarter, and built for the future.
