Caltrans was started on 15th July 2011. Ultimate aim of Caltrans is to “sprinkle their creation to the world “.
About GRADUS-14
Second Annual national Level Symposium conducted by the Caltrans, Jayalakshmi Institute of Technology.
GRADUS-14 aims to encouraging all participants to explore their conceptual knowledge and enhance their technical skills.

A committee will select paper after a critical review. Successful authors will be requested to submit hard copy on the day of presentation.

Posters should not exceed 420 x 297 mm (standard A3 paper size) and can be presented in a landscape format.
Posters should be single sheet only – only one sheet will be displayed.
There are no restrictions on using colour on posters. Students are free to use any colour scheme.
On the top of the poster, please include the title of the poster/research project, the name(s) of the student presenter(s) and faculty member.
Please include the following: Title, Introduction, Method, Results, Conclusion, and Acknowledgment.
Headings should be bolded and a noticeably larger font size than the main text.
It is the responsibility of authors to have their poster printed and delivered to the event. Information will be provided later on arrangements for hanging your work.

Structural analise:
Structural analise aims at finding your inner talent of unique thinking and helps to analyse thoughts using STAAD Pro software.
The design needs to be fulfilled based on the problem statement laid before.
TECHNICO QUIZ:
If you think you are technically sound enough. If you consider yourself in-sync with the ongoing developments in the industry. Then come and participate in one of the most interesting and challenging eventos.
Round:1
Preliminary round (battle with civil engineering)
Main round:
Only 6 teams are shortlisted from the preliminary round.
Multimedia presenti:
A chance to keep the audience spell-bound with an audio-video treats in the form of multimedia. A great opportunity for the participants to launch awareness about the greatness of civil engineering.
RULES:
The topic would be ANY INNOVATIVE TRENDS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
Maximum of two per team.
The time limit for the presentation would be of 5 to 7minutes.
Participants must bring the multimedia presentation in CD format playable in VLC player or windows media player on the day of symposium.
Flyde concrete
Floating concrete….
Concrete sinks in water, is a general thought. But to an engineer, things are certainly different. Everyone is inspired by the elegance of Ferrocement. The objective of this event is to make a model of a boat using cement that can not only float in water without leaking but also carry some load without sinking.
Standard size of concrete should be 100mm X 100mm X 100mm.
Bring two models for test of floating and compression test.
Minimum qualifying criteria of concrete is to float.
Further testing will be made by Compression test on UTM.
Participants should call the coordinator to obtain their identity mark on concrete on the dayof casting.
Models using any Floating materials like wood, thermocol, etc. will be DISQUALIFIED.
Model should not be coated with chemicals like distemper, paints, etc.
Points will be based on the following Judgement criteria
o 1. Volume to Weight Ratio.
o 2. Compressing Capacity.
o 3. Leakage and Aesthetic Criteria.
Participants must submit their model along with their names and college name on it before 10:00 AM on 24th Feb 2014.

ADZAP ...The Advertising Contest
Rules:
1.The event will be conducted in TWO rounds.
2. Each team comprises of 3 to 5 members and can constitute of members from different colleges.
3. On spot registrations can be done.
4. Participants are given slots on first come first serve basis.
ROUND ONE - Preliminary round:
1. General written test (non -technical).
2. The participating teams qualified in the test will proceed to the final round.
ROUND TWO - Final round:
1. A product will be provided to the teams to advertise.
2. You will be given 10 min. to prepare & you will have to enact the given product in front of the juries.
3. Different forms of expression like a short skit, jingles, slogans, banners or any other innovative form (care to be taken that they are not offensive or vulgar).
4. You will have a maximum of 3 min to present followed by a questionnaire round.
5. The team can bring the necessitated properties to do their advertisement.
6. The performance is judged based on the clarity in thought,attentiveness,humor,team co-ordination and expresssion.
SHORT FLIMA
“Express your wings with innovative”
Film based on studies, love, action, romantic, technical are welcome.
Film should not exceed 15 minutes.
Film should not consist of any form of appropriate content.
Participants must bring the short film in CD format playable in VLC player (or) windows media player on the day of symposium.
