New ancient fungus discovered in Himachal Himalayas

Palaeobotanists from Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University discovered a new species of ancient fungus, 𝑉𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑜𝑝𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑖𝑜𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑠, preserved on a fossilised leaf from up to 12 million years ago in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi District. To find the microscopic fungus, researchers used chemical maceration to reveal intricate, dark-brown structures under a light microscope.

Rare parasitic wasp genus found in Assam’s lowlands
