🎯 Talk Title: Multi-mode (radar-radiometer) Sensing for Security Applications: Improved Characterization of Hidden Dielectric Layers
As global security threats evolve, the need for reliable high-frequency sensors to detect contraband has never been greater. This talk explores a noninvasive, multi-mode approach combining active radar and passive radiometer sensing in the K-band (18-26 GHz).
Key takeaways from the session include:
Real-time Characterization: Extracting complex permittivity and thickness of hidden dielectrics at standoff distances with 5% accuracy.
Advanced Calibration: Techniques to mitigate RF front-end distortions, temperature-dependent losses, and background noise in indoor environments.
Experimental Verification: Investigating electromagnetic models using dielectric stacks and human phantom simulations.
Versatile Applications: While focused on security, these techniques extend to remote sensing, food safety, and fire detection.
