From Vision to Venture — Building the Face of New India’s Entrepreneurship
It was a privilege to be part of the Plenary Session II — “From Vision to Venture: The Face of New India’s Entrepreneurship” at the CII Disruptive Strategies Conclave 2026.
The session brought together entrepreneurs and business leaders from diverse industries to discuss what it takes to build, scale and sustain businesses in an India that is changing rapidly.
I had the opportunity to share the panel with Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla, Mr. Nipun Kochar, Mr. Hirak Bhattacharjee, Mr. Anmol Singh Narula and Mr. Shubham Karnani, in an engaging conversation moderated by Mr. Sanjay Srinivas, Chairman, Marketing & Brand Taskforce, CII West Bengal & Vice President, Marketing, ITC Limited.
What stood out for me was how entrepreneurship today is increasingly about understanding change before it becomes obvious.
Across industries — whether real estate, lab-grown diamonds, dairy, craft beverages or electric mobility — entrepreneurs are challenging established ways of doing business by responding to evolving consumer expectations, building trust and constantly rethinking product, pricing, positioning and personalisation.
From my perspective, building a business is not simply about identifying an opportunity. It is about having the conviction to stay committed to the vision while being flexible enough to evolve along the way.
A few thoughts that resonated strongly with me:
• Trust takes years to build and consistency to sustain.
• Long-term thinking matters more than short-term visibility.
• Consumer expectations are changing faster than ever — and businesses must keep learning.
• Young consumers are not just customers; they are tomorrow’s decision-makers.
• Scaling should never come at the cost of the core values that built the business.
For me, the most important takeaway was simple: entrepreneurship is a journey of continuous learning, patience and reinvention.
India’s next phase of growth will be shaped by entrepreneurs who are willing to think differently, build responsibly and create businesses that deliver lasting value.
Grateful to CII West Bengal for creating a platform for such meaningful conversations and for bringing together voices shaping the next chapter of Indian entrepreneurship.
