Digestive comfort: Traditionally used in very diluted massage over abdomen. Evidence is mostly traditional.
Muscle and joint massage: Diluted in carrier oil like coconut or sesame for minor tension.
Skin care: Small diluted amounts in cleansers for oily skin.
Kitchen flavoring: Food grade basil oil is used in tiny amounts. Aromatherapy grade should not be eaten.

Safety to keep in mind
Always dilute, usually 1 percent or less, which is about 1 drop per 1 teaspoon carrier oil. Do patch test, avoid eyes and broken skin, keep away from children. Avoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and in young children, and if you have epilepsy or allergy to basil or mint family plants without clinician advice. Do not swallow undiluted oil.
