"Metarhizium anisopliae and soil pest control — what field data shows.

White grub (Holotrichia species) is one of the most destructive soil pests in Indian agriculture — attacking sugarcane, cotton, soybean, groundnut, and vegetables.

Chemical soil insecticides:
→ Risk of groundwater contamination
→ Kill beneficial soil fauna
→ Residue in root-zone produce

Metarhizium anisopliae:
→ Naturally present in healthy soils globally
→ Infects white grub and other soil insects through soil contact
→ Persists in soil — continues suppression through season
→ Does not affect earthworms, beetles, or beneficial soil fauna

CIB&RC registered. Field trial documentation available.

Technical data on efficacy against Holotrichia consanguinea and Leucopholis lepidophora available on request."

"Pre-harvest interval (PHI): why it matters and how biopesticides are different.

Pre-harvest interval = the number of days required between the last pesticide application and harvest.

For synthetic insecticides:
→ Chlorpyrifos: 21 days PHI
→ Lambda-cyhalothrin: 7–14 days PHI
→ Imidacloprid: 7–21 days PHI

During PHI: farmers cannot spray. Late-season pest attacks are difficult to manage.

For ABPL biopesticides:
→ Beauveria bassiana: 0–1 day PHI (effectively zero residue)
→ Metarhizium: 0 day PHI
→ Trichoderma (soil): no harvest restriction
→ Bti: no PHI — used even in drinking water sources

Practical impact:
→ Farmers can control pests right up to harvest week
→ No risk of residue exceeding MRL limits
→ No waiting period = no yield loss from uncontrolled late-season pests

For export-oriented farms, zero PHI is not just convenient — it's essential for MRL compliance.

ABPL biopesticide PHI documentation available for export certification programs."

"April is the last practical window before monsoon makes mosquito control reactive.

By the time dengue cases are reported:
→ Aedes mosquito population has already built for 6–8 weeks
→ Treatment is reactive, not preventive
→ Disease burden is already imposed on the healthcare system

The intervention that works:
→ Bti treatment in April–May on static water bodies, containers, and urban water collections
→ Suppresses larval population before the monsoon breeding surge
→ Reduces adult population before peak dengue season (August–October)

Municipal programs in multiple cities that adopted pre-monsoon Bti protocols have reported meaningful reductions in seasonal dengue incidence.

ABPL Bti is available for municipal tender procurement.
Safety data, application protocols, and field references on request." VectorControl

"Urban mosquito breeding — the containers most programs miss.

Municipal fogging programs cover streets and parks.
What they don't reach:

The top urban Aedes aegypti breeding sites:
→ Overhead water tanks (uncovered or cracked lid)
→ Flower pot saucers — often refilled and never emptied
→ AC condensation drip trays (building-wide)
→ Construction site water collections
→ Unused tyres stored outdoors
→ Cooler pads (wet, still water inside)

These sites are in apartments, offices, schools — not in public areas.

Fogging cannot reach inside buildings.
Bti applied to water sources inside buildings can.

Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis):
→ Applied directly to water collections
→ Kills larvae within 24–48 hours of ingestion
→ WHO Class U — safest classification
→ Safe in drinking water sources, flower pots, coolers
→ Does not harm pets, fish, or humans

Dengue is managed where Aedes breeds — not where fogging reaches.

ABPL supplies Bti formulations for urban vector control programs.
Application protocols for residential, institutional, and municipal use available on request."

"The IPM pyramid — and where biological control fits.

Integrated Pest Management is not just ""use less chemical.""
It is a structured decision-making system.

The IPM pyramid (bottom to top):

Level 1 — Prevention (base, always active):
→ Resistant varieties, crop rotation, sanitation, soil health
→ Biological inputs at planting: Trichoderma, Rhizobium

Level 2 — Monitoring:
→ Pheromone traps, sticky traps, field scouting
→ Act on economic threshold — not calendar

Level 3 — Biological control:
→ Beauveria, Metarhizium, NPV, Bti, Trichoderma
→ Targeted. No residue. No resistance.

Level 4 — Chemical control (top, last resort):
→ Only when biological control has not achieved threshold
→ Selective chemistry preferred
→ Rotate modes of action

Most Indian farmers currently operate at Level 4 first.
The goal is to build from Level 1 up.

Biological inputs don't replace everything — they are the foundation that makes everything work better.

ABPL India manufactures products for Levels 1–3."

"Malaria has not been eliminated in India. Larval control is where most programs fail.

In rural areas with rice paddies, ponds, and irrigation channels, Anopheles mosquitoes breed continuously.

Challenge:
→ Water bodies cannot be drained
→ Fish and aquatic wildlife in same water — chemical larvicides cause damage
→ Wide distribution areas

Why Bti works for rural malaria vector control:
→ Applied directly to water bodies — kills Anopheles larvae selectively
→ Does not harm fish or aquatic organisms
→ Can be applied by air or ground
→ No chemical residue in drinking water sources

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) recognises Bti in integrated vector management protocols.

ABPL supplies Bti for rural health programs. Contact for bulk pricing."

"Biopesticide aur chemical pesticide mein farq kya hai? Zyaadaatar log nahi jaante.

Chemical pesticides:
→ Chemically synthesized
→ Broad spectrum — pest aur beneficial insects dono maarta hai
→ Soil aur produce mein residue
→ Pest resistance develop karte hain time ke saath

Biopesticides:
→ Natural organisms se (bacteria, fungi, viruses)
→ Species-specific — target pest, beneficial safe
→ Soil mein no residue
→ Resistance rare hai

Dono ka role hai.
Best results integrated use se aate hain — biological base + chemical as last resort.

Yeh share karo — kisi kisan ke kaam aa sakta hai."

"Trichoderma is not just a fungicide. The mechanism is more sophisticated.

When Trichoderma is applied to soil:

1. It colonises root zone — produces antibiotics and enzymes that suppress Fusarium, Pythium, Rhizoctonia
2. It solubilises soil phosphorus — making it available to plants
3. It produces growth factors — auxins and gibberellins that stimulate root development
4. It primes plant immune system — induces systemic resistance against pathogens

One application at sowing delivers multiple functions throughout the crop cycle.

This is why Trichoderma shows effects beyond disease suppression — improved germination, root growth, and sometimes yield.

CIB&RC registered. Compatible with most fertiliser programs. Technical documentation available."

"Biopesticide shelf life — what most dealers don't explain to farmers.

One common reason biopesticide results disappoint: the product was stored wrong.

What affects shelf life:
→ Temperature — above 35°C kills most biological agents
→ Direct sunlight — UV radiation degrades live spores
→ Moisture — water contamination inside container
→ Old stock — spore count drops over time

Storage requirements:
→ Store below 30°C — room temperature, shaded storage
→ Away from direct sunlight and heat sources
→ No cold chain required for most formulations (unlike vaccines)
→ Sealed container — avoid contamination

How to check viability:
→ Check the manufacture date (not expiry date alone)
→ WP formulations: should flow freely — if clumped, test viability
→ Most ABPL formulations: 12–18 month shelf life under proper storage

The farmer applied correctly. The product didn't work.
Often the issue is at storage — not application.

Ecologic network dealers receive storage guidance as part of training.

Technical storage specifications available on request."

"The PM-PRANAM scheme creates a structural shift in agricultural input economics.

PM-PRANAM (Promotion of Alternate Nutrients for Agriculture Management):
→ States that reduce chemical fertiliser subsidy utilisation receive 50% of saved subsidy as grant
→ This grant can be used for farmer welfare including biological input support

Implication:
→ State governments are now financially incentivised to promote bio-inputs
→ District and block-level promotion of biopesticides and biofertilisers will increase
→ Procurement requirements for registered biological products will grow

ABPL India manufactures CIB&RC registered biological inputs suitable for government procurement under PM-PRANAM frameworks.

"Resistance problem jo koi nahi bolra openly Indian agriculture mein.

Jab ek hi synthetic insecticide class season after season use hota hai:
→ Susceptible insects mar jaate hain
→ 0.1% with natural resistance survive karte hain
→ Woh reproduce karte hain — resistance genes pass karte hain
→ 3–5 generations mein: resistant population dominant ho jaati hai

India mein documented resistance:
→ Organophosphates — bollworm mein
→ Pyrethroids — whitefly mein
→ Neonicotinoids — Bemisia tabaci mein

Biological control agents ke saath yeh mechanism trigger nahi hota.
Living pathogen co-evolve karta hai apne host ke saath — resistance rarely stable hoti hai.

Yeh science hai — marketing nahi."

25/03/2026

"Can you mix biopesticides with chemical fertilizers? Here's the science.

This is one of the most practical questions in IPM — and the answer is nuanced.

General compatibility rules:

SAFE to mix with biopesticides:
→ Urea (as foliar) — generally compatible with Beauveria
→ NPK water-soluble fertilizers — most are neutral
→ Micronutrient sprays — check pH before mixing
→ Neem oil (as sticker) — actually enhances Beauveria efficacy

AVOID mixing with:
→ Copper-based fungicides — fungicidal to Beauveria and Trichoderma
→ Chlorothalonil — broad-spectrum antifungal, kills beneficial fungi
→ Highly alkaline inputs (pH >8.5) — degrades biological agents
→ Chlorinated water — kills bacteria-based products (Bti, probiotics)

Best practice: always do a jar test first.
Add inputs sequentially — sticker first, then biopesticide, then other inputs.
Agitate continuously. Spray within 4 hours.

Full compatibility matrix available from ABPL India technical team."
