The Ayushman bharat scheme covers medical expenses of ₹500000/ only per annum and restricted to govt. hospitals only whereas CGHS covered unlimited medical expenses even in private empanelled hospitals. It is assessed that, in the CGHS system, there is no beneficiary who enjoys the benefit free of cost. Every member of this scheme, 0serving or retired, has to pay their contribution, as decided by the govt. of India from time to time. But the Ayushman bharat scheme is a non-contributory scheme. Hence, these two schemes are incomparable and should not be linked together.
Instead of resolving the difficulties faced by the CGHS beneficiaries, now the Government wants to link CGHS with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) to provide treatment for CGHS beneficiaries in Government Hospitals only and omit private hospitals.
All the CGHS beneficiaries are required to be careful about linking CGHS ID with ABHA ID because of the following reasons:-
1. It is a very well calculated move to enforce the CGHS Beneficiaries to avail treatment from Govt. Hospitals only as the private hospitals don't want to treat the patients under CGHS
2. CGHS beneficiaries should be forced to stand in the queues of Govt. Hospitals and this is going to be a harsh reality.
In view of the above situations, none should opt for linking CGHS Ben ID with ABHA ID until there is a clarification from the MH&FW & CGHS Directorate that CGHS beneficiaries shall not be denied the existing facilities under CGHS. As such, all the Central Government and Defence Employees, Officers, Pensioners Associations/ Unions/ Federations / JCM National Council etc. are required to take up the matter withtheGovernment.
So far we are concerned, we are already on the move of taking up the matter with the authorities concerned.
