Team ShadX, under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad H. Sadraey, has been awarded second place in the 2020-2021 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Graduate Team Aircraft Design Competition.
In response to the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the last year's competition, team ShadX designed and presented the "Chaka" modern regional jet (MRJ) family, proposing a novel, high-performance, and semi-conventional aircraft. The overall goal of the 2020-2021 competition was to be at least 20% better than existing 50-seat regional jets in 500-nmi block fuel per seat with a cost to build comparable to the existing aircraft.
Congratulations to members, project advisors, and the team's supervisor! Your achievement marks the fifth time since 2015 that members of House ShadX have been among the winning teams.
