🔥 WHEN A “PREMIUM” SAUNA HIDES CHEAP CONSTRUCTION INSIDE.
Today we inspected a burned sauna in Iceland.
From the outside, it looked modern and high-end.
But once the structure was opened, the reality was very different.
What we found:
— only ~120 mm wall thickness
— no wall ventilation system
— no ventilated cavity from inside or outside
— OSB flooring without proper waterproof protection
— thin ~22 mm glass units
— weak moisture and thermal protection overall
In sauna construction, this creates serious long-term risks: ❌ condensation buildup
❌ trapped moisture
❌ mold risk
❌ structural movement and deformation
❌ major heat loss
A sauna is not just a small wooden cabin.
It operates in an extreme environment: 🔥 high heat
💧 heavy humidity
❄️ freezing temperatures
🌬️ constant thermal movement
That is why at HUSATEX we engineer our thermal cabins differently:
✔️ ~240 mm full wall assembly
✔️ ventilated cavities from both interior and exterior sides
✔️ high-performance ~46 mm insulated glazing
✔️ fully waterproof floor systems
✔️ cement-based protection boards for floors.
✔️ construction designed specifically for Icelandic climate conditions
