Plast 2026: what we're taking home.

Last week our colleagues Tommaso Munaretto and Luigi D'Arco attended Plast 2026 at Fiera Milano Rho, the leading European trade show dedicated to the plastics and rubber industry. Twentieth edition, over 1,000 exhibitors, and an open dialogue between industry, institutions, and the recycling supply chain.

Two days to update ourselves on market trends, explore new opportunities, and bring home concrete contacts and insights for our day-to-day work.

One message stood out from the institutional debate: circularity and competitiveness are not in conflict. Sustainability must be environmental, economic, and productive at the same time. But getting there requires regulatory certainty, investment, and a stable market for secondary raw materials — still far too fragile across Europe.

For Coveme, being present at these events is part of a concrete journey toward more circular management of our materials. The road is long, but the direction is the right one.

At Coveme, passion is not confined to our laboratories or manufacturing lines. It is the shared energy and dedication our people bring to every challenge, and it grows stronger when we connect outside the workplace.

Our team recently spent a day together in nature, participating in a team-building event focused on collaboration, unity, and local traditions.

Moments like these remind us that our professional strength lies in our personal connections. The same enthusiasm and commitment that drive our material science innovations are fueled by the strong bonds we build as a team. When people share a common purpose and support one another, passion becomes a tangible value that directly impacts our daily work.

🤝 Partnering for a healthier future: Coveme alongside Save the Children in Somalia.

Renewing our ongoing partnership with Save the Children, we are proud to support their vital operations countering acute malnutrition in Somalia this year.

In a country where children face one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, ensuring access to immediate medical care is critical. Through this initiative, Coveme supports the New Gabil stabilization center to provide essential, life-saving medical nutrition treatments.

Thanks to this collaboration, the project has achieved key healthcare objectives:

✔️ guaranteed life-saving medical care for 59 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition;

✔️ covered the entire therapeutic cycle for each child, from initial hospital admission to full medical discharge;

✔️ supported specialized staff in delivering critical stabilization treatments within the New Gabil facility.

We believe that protecting children's health and securing their right to survival are the very first steps toward building a safer and more resilient future.

Grounding circularity in reality: insights from PRSE Amsterdam.

Staying at the forefront of the plastics recycling landscape is a priority for Coveme. Our colleagues Alberto Rumi and Tommaso Munaretto recently attended the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) to assess the latest industry developments and evaluate how the market is evolving, particularly around chemical recycling and the upcoming EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

As a manufacturer of coated and treated PET films, understanding recycling supply chains is crucial to driving true product circularity. Here are the key takeaways they brought home:

♻️ scalability in progress: while chemical recycling technology and vision are highly advanced, building true industrial scalability remains a work in progress across Europe;

♻️ the technical film challenge: traditional recycling streams are currently dominated by "easy" post-consumer plastics like PET bottles. Highly technical materials, such as treated PET films, still face hurdles in finding their space within traditional waste flows;

♻️ traceability is central: digital solutions and verified tracciability are becoming fundamental for operators to certify the origin and quality of recycled plastics.

How Coveme is turning these insights into action?

We don't wait for ready-made solutions; we actively look for them. Moving forward, Coveme is focused on two concrete technical fronts:

➡️ collaborative testing: we are currently working alongside external partners to test the actual recyclability of our most complex technical films. It’s an ongoing, rigorous technical process, but it represents a real, measurable commitment rather than just a declaration;

➡️ reduction at the source: we are systematically optimizing our production processes to minimize manufacturing scrap. The most effective waste management strategy is preventing waste from being generated in the first place.

Achieving circularity for specialized technical materials is inherently complex, but that is exactly why we choose to approach it with honesty, technical rigor, and concrete actions.

From a Master’s Thesis to Global Operations: meet Daniela Concas.

How does a specialized research project evolve into a versatile management career? For Daniela Concas, our Samples & Prep Room Technician, the journey began with a challenge: developing high-reflectivity metallized films for CSP solar systems in partnership with Eni.

What started as a Master’s thesis turned into a deep-dive into Coveme’s technical heart. Daniela’s career path reflects the core of our company:

R&D Roots: She first joined our Photovoltaic Division, where she contributed to the development of innovative prototypes.

International Mindset: Her growth led her to our production plant in China, gaining invaluable field experience with global customers and suppliers.

Operational Excellence: After a period in Technical Assistance, she now plays a key role in the Samples & Prep Room, bridging the gap between engineering precision and customer needs.

Today, Daniela is a technical and organizational benchmark who isn't afraid to step out of her comfort zone to ensure that every sample meeting a client's request is a testament to Coveme’s quality.

"To me, Coveme means dynamism. Facing different challenges every day allows me to acquire new skills and see the real impact of my work on the final product."
