Some moments from my visit to FHNW Basel last October.

It was a pleasure to see Greta working on the Dubied 12 gauge machine I supplied to the university, together with teacher Iva Wili.

Shortly after, Greta graduated — always wonderful to see these machines becoming part of new creative journeys.

Trip to Paris, An intense week spent servicing and fine-tuning two Dubied 8 and 3 gauge machines in Trevor’s house.

Of course, there was also time for a visit to La Droguerie, at Les Halles, one of the most inspiring places for anyone passionate about knitting, yarns and creative accessories.

On the way back, an essential stop in Chamonix for a traditional mountain raclette — a typical dish made with melted cheese and potatoes — before ending the journey with a wonderful evening in Biella together with friends.

Between old Dubied machines, yarns, mountains and great people, some trips always leave something special behind.

A beautiful experimental structure knitted on a Dubied 14 gauge manual knitting machine recently supplied to Emma Pforzheim.

The fabric was developed by Minerva using extra-fine wool yarn supplied by E. Miroglio Srl.

The sample explores alternating compact knitted bands and open ladder effects, demonstrating how traditional Dubied manual knitting machines still offer remarkable creative possibilities for contemporary textile research.

Prima del punto.

Lunedì 13 aprile sarò allo IUAV nel Laboratorio di Design della Maglieria per un intervento dedicato alle fibre e ai filati per macchine manuali Dubied.

Prima ancora della struttura della maglia viene la conoscenza del materiale: titolo, costruzione del filato e comportamento in lavorazione determinano il risultato finale.

Un momento di confronto con gli studenti per collegare fibra, filato e macchina in modo concreto.

Before the stitch.

On April 13th I will be at IUAV University in the Knitwear Design Laboratory for a lecture dedicated to fibres and yarns for manual Dubied knitting machines.

Before stitch structure comes material knowledge: yarn count, yarn construction and behaviour during knitting determine the final result.

A valuable opportunity to connect fibre, yarn and machine through practical experience.

We are in Pforzheim for the delivery of a Dubied NHF2 manual knitting machine 14-gauge.

Each machine leaves our workshop fully restored and carefully tested, but delivering it in person remains the best way to make sure it arrives ready to work in the right conditions.

Emma will use this Dubied as part of her knitting work at the EMMA Creative Center, and it is always a pleasure to see these traditional machines continue their life in new hands and new projects.
