From June 17 (Wed.) to 19 (Fri.), DENSO will take part in Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026 at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, and also the accompanying online expo.

While continuing to refine its core technologies, DENSO is also striving to create further value in the mobility domain, and expand its ever-evolving strengths into new areas of business. We also aim to enhance value for our customers, and continue to meet the high expectations of the wider community, by ensuring that all DENSO businesses revolve around what is best for the environment and people’s safety and peace of mind. Technologies and products grounded in these commitments will be on display at Automotive Engineering Exposition 2026.

デンソーでは、持続可能な社会の実現のために、事業環境認識で想定した社会予測やSDGsを含むさまざまな社会課題の中から、優先取組課題（マテリアリティ）を選定し、その課題解決に向けてサステナビリティ経営を加速しています。

At DENSO, we are working to help build a more sustainable world. To do this, we have identified priority issues (Materiality) that are based on social forecasts and social issues, including the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and reflect our understanding of the business environment, and are accelerating our sustainability management activities to address these issues.
We are also updating our Materiality to reflect changes in social issues and the operating environment for our businesses.
This process involves making a comprehensive effort to identify social issues of particular concern to our stakeholders and the wider international community, examining opportunities and risks from the perspectives of both the impact of DENSO’s business activities on society, and importance to DENSO, and undertaking quantitative assessments with the relevant time horizons in mind. The most recent such update was implemented last year.

社員食堂で環境に配慮したお米を提供

デンソーの食堂では、フードロス削減や地産地消など、環境に配慮した取り組みを進めています。
取り組みの一つとして、現在デンソー本社の一部の食堂では、水を張らずに栽培する節水型の米(※)を提供中です。
従来の水田と異なり、水を使わないことでメタンガスの発生を抑え、地球温暖化の防止に貢献します。
この栽培方法は水資源の削減だけでなく、農作業の効率化にもつながり、持続可能な農業を支える技術として期待されています。
デンソーはこれからも、環境負荷の低減と持続可能な社会の実現に貢献していきます。

(※) 節水型の米(節水型乾田直播栽培米)は、中部電力株式会社が進める「節水型乾田直播水稲栽培」によって生産されました。当取り組みは、デンソーの食堂を運営するエームサービス株式会社と協力して進めています。

Serving Environmentally Friendly Rice in Associate Cafeterias

DENSO’s cafeterias are advancing a range of initiatives, including reducing food loss and promoting locally sourced ingredients.
As part of these efforts, some cafeterias at DENSO’s headquarters are now serving rice grown using a water-saving cultivation method that does not require flooded paddies (*).
Unlike conventional rice farming, this method reduces methane emissions by eliminating standing water, thereby helping to mitigate global warming.
In addition to conserving water resources, this cultivation method also improves farming efficiency and is expected to contribute to more sustainable agriculture.
DENSO will continue working to reduce environmental impact and help realize a more sustainable society.

* This water-saving rice (dry direct-seeded rice) is produced using a cultivation method promoted by Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc.
This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with AIM Services Co., Ltd., which operates DENSO’s associate cafeterias.

自然と共に歩む、デンソーの生態系保全の取り組み

本日5月22日は「国際生物多様性の日」です。

デンソーは、事業活動を通じて自然環境保全活動を推進するとともに、地域と協働しながら生態系の維持・保全に取り組んでいます。

愛知県西尾市にあるデンソー善明製作所では、浄化処理された排水を使ったビオトープ(※)を製作所敷地内に整備しています。製作所周辺のため池で、絶滅危惧種「ウシモツゴ」が発見されたことをきっかけに、ウシモツゴが生息できる環境の整備を目指し、1998年に設置しました。順調に世代交代を続け、現在では数多くのウシモツゴや黒メダカ、数種類の水生昆虫などが生息。多くの鳥類の飛来もあり、生態系が豊かに広がっていることが確認されています。
さらに2024年には、敷地内に新たなビオトープを整備しました。ゲンジボタルをはじめとする地域在来のいきものが生息できる環境を整えるため、水質調整施設も設置しています。

デンソーは今後も、生態系の維持・保全に取り組み、自然豊かな環境づくりを推進していきます。

※ビオトープ：ドイツ語で「生物の生息空間」を意味し、「生き物が自然と同じような環境で生きている場所」を指す。

※本投稿で紹介しているビオトープは、一般には開放していない施設です。

In Harmony with Nature: DENSO’s Efforts to Preserve Ecosystems

Today, May 22, is the International Day for Biological Diversity.
As well as undertaking environmental conservation activities through its business operations, DENSO works alongside communities to maintain and preserve natural ecosystems.
The DENSO Zenmyo Plant in the city of Nishio, Aichi Prefecture has set up a biotope* on its grounds that uses treated wastewater. This was constructed in 1998 following the discovery of an endangered freshwater fish, the ushimotsugo minnow, in a reservoir near the plant, with the aim of providing a suitable habitat for these tiny creatures. The project has continued to run successfully, and at present a large number of　ushimotsugo, black medaka (Japanese rice fish), and several species of aquatic insect call the reservoir home. The biotope also attracts many birds; further confirmation that the ecosystem continues to expand in rich and rewarding ways for the local wildlife.
In 2024 a new biotope was added on-site, with facilities for monitoring and adjusting water quality, to help create a healthy habitat for the genji-botaru firefly (Nipponoluciola cruciata) and other native fauna.
DENSO will continue to actively maintain and preserve ecosystems as part of its commitment to creating healthy natural environments and enhancing biodiversity.
*Biotope: From the German word Biotop meaning “life-place.” Refers to a location where plants and animals inhabit an environment identical to that found in nature.
* The biotope described here is not generally open to the public.

走行中無線給電

カーボンニュートラル社会の実現に向けて、電動車への注目度がますます高まっています。
しかし、その普及のハードルのひとつとして「充電インフラの不足」があり、課題解決のために「走行中無線給電」の技術開発が世界中で進められています。

地中に埋め込まれた送電装置により、停車中および走行中のEVバッテリーへ自動的に給電するこの技術が実用化されれば、給電レーンの上を走り続けることで、充電ステーションでの長時間の充電を必要とせず、「無限走行」という未来の扉を開く可能性も秘めています。

デンソーは走行中無線給電に関する技術開発と実証に取り組んでいます。

2024年9月には、技術的な実現可能性に関する実証を行い、走行中無線給電による50時間連続走行を完走しました。

Wireless Charging While Driving
As the world moves toward a carbon‑neutral society, electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining more attention than ever. At the same time, the lack of charging infrastructure remains one of the key challenges to wider EV adoption.
To address this issue, Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT)—a technology that enables EVs to charge wirelessly while driving—is being developed around the world. With power transmitters embedded beneath the road surface, EV batteries can be charged automatically both while stopped and in motion.
If commercialized, continuously driving over powered lanes could eliminate the need for long charging stops and unlock the possibility of “unlimited driving.”
DENSO is actively advancing the development and demonstration of DWPT technologies. In September 2024, DENSO successfully completed a 50‑hour continuous drive powered by wireless charging while driving, demonstrating the technology’s technical feasibility.

移動の未来を体験！SDVドライビングシミュレーター

こちらは、デンソー本社にあるデンソーミュージアム内に展示されている、SDVドライビングシミュレーターです。
SDVとは、Software Defined Vehicleの略で、ソフトウェアをアップデートしていくことで、購入後も性能を進化させられるクルマのこと。
車内ではドライバー一人ひとりのニーズに寄り添い、車外ではほかのクルマや街とつながって、便利や安心を届けてくれるなど、さまざまな進化が期待されています。
SDVドライビングシミュレーターでは、デンソーが描くSDVによる移動の未来を体感することができます。
「家族旅行」や「休日のお出かけ」など、4つのコースから選択し、ぜひ新しい移動のかたちをお楽しみください。

明日5月9日（土）は、デンソーミュージアムの月に一度の週末開館日です。

SDV Driving Simulator Demonstrates Future of Mobility!

This is the SDV driving simulator on display at the DENSO Museum, located at company headquarters.
SDV stands for Software Defined Vehicle, meaning a car whose performance continues to evolve even after purchase through software updates, delivering safety and convenience both inside the vehicle, by responding to the needs of individual drivers, and outside, by connecting to other vehicles and the surrounding streets.
The SDV driving simulator gives museum visitors first-hand experience of the exciting mobility future DENSO hopes to provide through Software Defined Vehicles.
Choose from four programs, including “Family holiday” and “Sunday drive,” and enjoy a new way of moving!

ニコニコ超会議への出展は、2024年から3年連続となります。

DENSO at Nico Nico Chokaigi 2026!
For the third year running, DENSO is an exhibitor at the Nico Nico Chokaigi gathering for users of the Nico Nico video-sharing service. This weekend event is being held at the Makuhari Messe convention center both today (April 25) and tomorrow (April 26).
The theme for this year’s booth is “DENSOenso Super Robot Academy Festival – Creating the Future Together with COBOTTA,” and in addition to showcasing industrial robot technology developed on the factory floor, the display features intelligent robots designed to coexist with people and enrich their lives.
As well as robot demonstrations, the booth offers loads of fun for visitors, including a ring toss and customized business card making.
Those taking part in some of these activities will also receive a free gift from DENSO.

このセンサーは1台で水ポテンシャル・体積含水率・電気伝導度・土壌温度を計測できます。
これにより作物や生育段階に応じた最適な潅水管理を支援し、収穫量の安定、品質向上、節水、作業効率改善に貢献します。

デンソーは、今後も自動車部品製造で培ったセンシングなどの技術を食農分野にも展開し、
安定した食の提供を実現する環境づくりへ貢献していきます。

New Multifunctional Soil Sensor Launched
DENSO has developed and commenced sales of a multifunctional soil sensor that uses data to visualize soil conditions.
A single sensor is all that is required to measure water potential, volumetric water content, electrical conductivity, and soil temperature.
This enables irrigation to be managed optimally for a crop and its stage of development, thus helping to ensure more stable yields and better quality, while also conserving water and improving work efficiency.
DENSO will continue to apply the sensing and other technologies developed through its auto part manufacturing activities in the agro-food sector, thereby helping to cultivate the kind of environments needed for the stable supply of food.

In the DENSO Cup Challenge Soccer tournament, university students who have played at the national level form regional selection squads and compete to decide the top region in Japan.
While most university soccer games are organized by the individual universities, the DENSO Cup is a valuable opportunity for the top players from different universities across the country to gather in a single location, taking university soccer to another level.
Furthermore, as the games are also run by students, the competition is a place for learning and growth not only for participating players, but also for students involved in the operational side of things.
