Ecomining Insight Tech was proud to be part of the Turkana Gold Summit & Minerals Expo 2026!

Representing EcoMining, our Programs Coordinator, Eng. Lilian Kagai Mugalla, moderated the session on Technology Transfer, Safety and Environmentally Responsible Mining Practices—an important conversation on how innovation can translate into safer, more responsible and sustainable mining practices.

At Ecomining Insight Tech we believe technology must create practical impact on the ground. We develop innovations that protect artisanal and small-scale miners, generate trusted mining data, reduce risks and help unlock access to finance and responsible markets. Our work is driven by a vision of an ASM sector that is safer, transparent, investable and future-ready.

The Summit was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from miners and industry stakeholders, and strengthen conversations around the technologies shaping the future of ASM.

Building a More Predictable ASM, Together.

At EcoMining, we believe the journey towards a more predictable, safer and sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector starts with working directly with miners.

We partner with miners to share knowledge, strengthen decision-making and help de-risk their operations. Sometimes, this means an impromptu visit to inspect a shaft, identify potential safety concerns and remind miners that safety must always come first.

We are also encouraged to see miners embracing technology that enables them to track their progress and better understand their operations. Access to reliable information is a powerful tool for making better decisions and building more bankable mining operations.

We don't just work for miners — we work with them.

Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining is a vital part of our mining sector, yet many miners operate without reliable data about their operations, production and assets. Without this data, accessing finance and other opportunities becomes a major challenge.

Under one of our programs, Data Formalization, we are partnering with miners to change this.

We are walking the journey with them through training, data incorporation and capacity building, helping miners build credible records of their operations and understand how data can open doors to financing.

I believe in our miners and their potential. Formalization is a journey, and we must walk it with them—not simply ask them to get there.
