The Strategic Coordination Meeting was held on 27 February 2026 at ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology Duduville Campus, Nairobi to align on the final phase of project implementation.
The meeting was honoured by the presence of Gerard den Ouden, from the Technical Assistance Unit for European Union Projects, whose participation reinforced the importance of compliance, impact documentation, and sustainability as the project approaches closure.
Implemented by and partners under the ACP Innovation Fund — financed by the European Union (EU) and managed by the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) — AGriDI continues to advance inclusive green growth through agri-based digital innovation in West Africa.
🎯 Objectives of the Meeting
✔️ Review final project closeout procedures and evaluate the technical results and milestones achieved by the Third-Party Projects (TPPs) to consolidate impact and capture key lessons learned.
✔️ Explore strategic linkages with broader Global Gateway (GG) and Team Europe Initiatives (TEI) to strengthen sustainability, scale, and continued regional collaboration beyond the project lifecycle.
The meeting reaffirmed our collective commitment to ensuring that AGriDI’s achievements continue to support women and youth-led digital innovation in agriculture across West Africa.

📱🌾 Empowering Farmers Through Digital Innovation in Benin

Africa Green Corporation (AGC), a private sector company based in Benin, is strengthening the rice and maize value chains across six communes in northern Benin through Ki@—a mobile application that provides real-time market prices for rice and maize.

Farmers and aggregators showcased how they are using Ki@ during a field visit to Basila by Dr. Jonas Mugabe ( Project Manager) and Dr. Michael Kidoido (icipe Senior M&E Specialist).

The development of Ki@ and collection of market information has been made possible through a grant from ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology and its partners under the AGriDI project, funded by the European Union through the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS Secretariat - Secrétariat OEACP).

Encouragingly, Ki@ users have expressed strong commitment to sustaining the app beyond the project’s grant period—demonstrating its value and potential for long-term impact.
