After working on enough projects,
you realise structural engineering is not only about calculations.
It’s also about handling unexpected conversations
👉 “Can we remove this column?"
Usually after the entire layout is finalized
👉 “Make the structure stronger.”
Translation:
“Add more concrete and steel everywhere.”
👉 “It’s just one small architectural change.”
And suddenly:
• Beams change
• Slab behavior changes
• Load paths change
• Coordination changes
• Foundation design changes
👉 “Can we reduce some cost?”
Perfectly fair question…
until it comes after ex*****on has already started
👉 “Need drawings urgently.”
But the floor plan is still changing every few hours.
👉 “Site has already executed it.”
Now everyone wants a structural solution immediately
And then there are the best projects
where architecture, structure, and ex*****on teams coordinate early and work with clarity from day one.
Those projects always move differently.
Because in structural engineering,
good coordination solves more problems than last-minute corrections ever can.
