Bio Energy Solution (Pvt) Ltd was established in 2009 and is part of Hairu Group of Companies, Sri Lanka. The company explores the possibilities of innovative energy generation solutions by securing social, economical & environmental resources through sustainable development. The state-of-the-art power plant, is strategically based in Nintavur, Ampara - one of Sri Lanka's largest paddy production
regions. Paddy/rice husk, which is an abundant by-product of the paddy & rice industry, is used as the primary source. We currently generate 2 Mega Watts of carbon neutral power through Steam Turbine and Boiler-based technologies and supply to the national power grid. Endorsing Sri Lanka's national policy of generating 10% of the total electricity demand using renewable energy sources. Finding ways and means of disposing Paddy waste has been a mammoth challenge to all the rice mills and paddy land owners. About 85% - 90% of the Rice husks produced, goes to waste without utilization for any useful purpose. Disposal has become a time and energy consuming task for all those involved in this sector. At present, rice husks are left in yards to rot, or burnt without using safe techniques creating environmental hazards and unsafe living conditions. By purchasing & utilizing paddy waste for power generation, Bio Energy Solution has created an industry that is lucrative for existing and future rice millers and farmers. Greater employment opportunities, infrastructure development in the area, contribution to a greener environment and the positive impact on the lifestyle of the locals as a result are a few that are noteworthy. At broader level, we contribute significantly to the countries energy requirements, gearing to become a greener and developed Sri Lanka.
