The variation in transport costs across different regions of Liberia significantly contributes to the discrepancies in pricing. For instance, transporting 500 gallons petroleum products in and around Monrovia incurs a fee of 6,000 Liberian dollars (LRD). However, as we look beyond the capital, the costs increase quite dramatically.
In Margibi County, the transportation fee rises to 8,000 LRD. Moving further into the interior, B**g County faces a cost of 15,000 LRD for the same quantity. Similarly, Grand Bassa County also has a transport cost of 15,000 LRD.
Bomi County presents another increase, with transportation costs reaching 13,000 LRD, while Grand Cape Mount County rises even higher to 14,000 LRD. Nimba County experiences the most significant transportation expense at 21,000 LRD.
These figures emphasize the challenge of transporting petroleum products and other goods to more remote and hard-to-reach counties, where logistics and infrastructure may add considerable costs to the overall price of these essential items. The increase in transport fees ultimately affects the end price consumers pay, highlighting significant disparities in access and affordability across the country.
