Libenergy Launches Crackdown on Rampant Power Theft in Zwedru
Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County
April 7, 2026
The Management of Libenergy wishes to inform the general public that it has observed a disturbing increase in rampant power theft across Zwedru and its surrounding communities. These illegal activities are not only undermining the integrity of the electricity distribution network but are also posing serious safety risks to lives and properties.
Power theft, including illegal connections, meter tampering, and unauthorized use of electricity, is a criminal offense. Such actions lead to frequent outages, equipment damage, and increased operational costs, ultimately affecting law-abiding customers who depend on stable and affordable electricity.
In response, Libenergy, in collaboration with the Liberia National Police, has commenced a vigorous enforcement and arrest operation targeting individuals and groups involved in power theft. This exercise will be sustained and expanded across all affected areas within the grid.
Offenders will be identified, disconnected, and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Liberia. Libenergy remains committed to protecting its infrastructure and ensuring fair and reliable service delivery to all customers.
We are calling on community leaders, residents, and customers to support this initiative by reporting any suspicious or illegal electricity connections. Together, we can safeguard our power supply and promote a culture of accountability.
Libenergy assures the public of its continued dedication to improving electricity access while maintaining zero tolerance for illegal activities within its network.
