🧪 What does it take to test a drone ESC properly?

At Elarion, we don’t just run a few lab tests and call it a day. Each FC + ESC unit goes through a brutal real-world validation process:

🔥 Heat tests in enclosed drone bays (yes, we cook them!) 💨 Airflow tests for different frame geometries
⚡ Current ramp tests with fast throttle cycles
📉 Failure analysis to find weak points before you ever see them

We’ve even 3D printed custom mounts to simulate airflow turbulence in large FPV drones. Why go this far? Because our customers do. Whether you're flying recon missions or racing gates, your gear should just work — no excuses.

🎮 FPV pilots on the battlefield face a huge risk — their analog video feeds are easy to intercept. Standard FPV systems just aren’t secure enough.

🔧 That’s why we built a compact PCB that scrambles and descrambles PAL/NTSC analog video signals, making eavesdropping much harder.
⚡ It also lets you instantly switch between two video transmitters (VTXs) in the field.

💡 What does the ampere rating of an FPV drone ESC really mean?

The ESC is like the muscle of a drone – it takes commands from the flight controller and turns them into action by powering the motors. But understanding the ampere rating is key to knowing how well an ESC will perform, especially under different conditions.

🚨 Many ESCs show inflated ratings based on unrealistic tests (tiny props, artificial cooling), but at Elarion, we focus on real-world conditions. Our 65A rating, for example, was achieved with a standard 8" drone, no shortcuts, just honest testing. 💪

We’re excited to introduce the new FC + ESC stack, proudly engineered and made in Lithuania 🇱🇹 – completely free of Chinese components.

We’ve spent months testing it — both in-house and with amazing early adopters in Lithuania and Ukraine. Huge thanks to everyone who shared feedback and helped shape v2.0! 🙌

🛠️ What’s new in version 2.0?
✅ Optimised BOM — pricing now competitive with Chinese alternatives
✅ Redesigned ESC — handles higher currents and temperatures (up to 65A continuous, depending on FPV setup)
✅ Custom OSD — no Chinese standard chips inside

The war in Ukraine has highlighted some serious problems with how we use UAVs in defense. A lot of them are lost due to electronic warfare. FPV drones are difficult to fly – one needs serious piloting skills to operate them effectively. In addition to that, most UAV parts are made in China -- this leads to supply chain issues and security concerns.
We're working on the solutions! We're building secure, easy-to-use UAV control systems right here in the EU, using Western components. Stay tuned - we'll launch our avionics products very soon.
