In the diploma work, the author planned and designed a user plugin for an online questionnaire for people with special needs. The online questionnaire helps students with or without special needs to identify needs related to the study process in higher education. The author primarily focused on students with visual impairments.

That is why, in the first part of the thesis, the author explored the characteristics of the needs that students with visual impairments might have, and at the same time reviewed the existing websites, which represent an exemplary example of considering accessibility. This formed the basis for determining which accessibility solutions we would implement in our case. The author has found that websites are still poorly adapted for people with special needs. Thus, accessibility problems arise, although the addition of such functionalities benefits all web users.

The results and conclusions of our study will serve as guidelines in creating and upgrading websites suitable for all users online.

The international Erasmus+ partnership project "Smart Solutions for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities in Higher Education" runs from September 2020 until August 2023. The project is implemented by four partner institutions - Liepaja University Institute of Educational Sciences (Latvia), CSI Center for Social Innovation LTD (Cyprus), University of Patras (Greece), and University of Maribor (Slovenia).
The project aims to develop innovative, inclusive higher education system solutions that promote social inclusion and innovative digital assistive technology solutions. Thus enabling the availability of information and communication technologies for various groups of the society and their integration into the academic and social environment. Innovative solutions are developed in direct cooperation with students, representatives of higher education institutions, and digital solution specialists, taking into account the diversity of needs, requirements, and recommendations. Within the framework of the project is being developed an open access, centralized, digital platform for evaluating and providing assistive support in higher education institutions and companies.
