In non-destructive testing, what you see isn't always what's actually there.
Correct training and real-world experience aren’t just helpful — they are critical.
Over the years, we’ve seen dangerous defects passed off as harmless, and harmless ones flagged as critical, some defects ignored or misnamed. The result? Unjustified repairs, missed defects, wasted money — or worse.
At PlyStruct, we take responsibility for safety. We believe this industry needs more shared knowledge — and more honest discussion. We are happy to see proactive specialists in the community, and we want to join. So, let’s test something together:
📸Look at this real RT image from a TIG weld (Ø219 mm, 5 mm wall, double-wall shot). A new welder joined the project — and this showed up in the welds (photo camera quality isn’t perfect, in viewing box necessary IQI visible, and yes, there is more defects).
