A bathroom is a place where every child deserves to feel safe, clean, and respected.

At the Jerash (Gaza) Refugee Camp Women’s Centre, more than 300 children rely on these facilities every day. Years of deterioration left broken toilets, flooding, no lighting, and a lack of privacy, creating serious health and safety concerns.
Together with our local partner, we completed a full renovation to restore these spaces with dignity. The project included fully renovated washrooms, improved sanitation infrastructure, and a new accessible bathroom, ensuring children of all abilities can use the facilities safely.
Because dignity begins with the spaces we often overlook. 💙

Introducing Solidarity Engineering.

We’re a humanitarian engineering nonprofit working alongside displaced communities and local partners to address infrastructure challenges that directly impact health and daily life.

Our work spans water and sanitation, shelter improvements, renewable energy, safe spaces for children, STEM education, and women’s health programming across Mexico, the U.S.–Mexico border, Jordan, Ukraine, and beyond. Every project is shaped by the needs of the communities we partner with.

From summer practicums to year-round impact.

What started as short-term student placements has grown into a global network of campus chapters advancing humanitarian engineering. From assembling hygiene kits to leading research on health equity, students are helping expand what’s possible for communities experiencing displacement.

With chapters now at McMaster University and New Mexico State University, we’re building more than programs—we’re building a pipeline of future engineers, public health leaders, and changemakers committed to global solidarity.

Jerash camp, also known as “Gaza Camp” in Jordan is in dire need of a bathroom renovation to make it safe and accessible for over 300 children using it daily. Good infrastructure is incredibly important for building healthy habits and strong children development. A day in the life with and distributing hygiene kits to a community kitchen in Matamoros, Mexico ✨

30 kits were distributed, each kit including essential supplies for local families. From towels to shampoo, we empower our women to take control over their health and body 🎀

Last Friday, we celebrated Día del Niño at Colegio La Cruz in Reynosa, Mexico 🇲🇽
Music, dancing, art, and a few piñatas! Thanks to our partners at Save the Children, plus generous support from House of Love & Justice, we shared pizza, cupcakes, and time together as a community.

We also marked an important milestone: the completion of our first hygiene station at the school. Designed with input from students themselves, it provides consistent access to essential hygiene products for girls, women, and their families, while helping reinforce the school as a safe, shared space.

Moments like these are a reminder of why sustained partnership matters. Our work with Colegio La Cruz has grown over the past year, and we’re just getting started.

Last Friday, our Community Health Promoter, Karely Chávez, facilitated a Psychological First Aid training for some of our Reynosa partners working closely with a variety of vulnerable groups.

Together, we’re building a network of care, so that support, compassion, and informed response are always within reach, even when we aren’t physically on site.
