In the process….
First and second natural modes of a residential building in Aragón, Mexico City. Importantly, is necessary to add stiffness in this structure in order to change the second natural mode.

Modal analysis is importantly and necessary to design a structure getting the best response and behaviour during earthquakes.

Reinforced masonry walls.

We can’t stand seeing how people lose their investments thrown away due to damages in their private properties. Therefore, we are strongly impulsed to protect people from earthquakes so we analyzed and designed reinforced masonry walls in a project in order to maintain safe a family.

These details are little inputs that show how masonry walls are reinforced with steel.

Structure based on confined masonry walls and slab system on one way joist system.

One of our final processes inside structural engineering service. We are used to create BIM models in every project to deliver it to clients so that they can check collisions with other disciplines and manage the project on site.

Slab system: One way joist system

These details are from “Residential BOJAI” in Querétaro.
Year of design: 2017.
Construcción and architecture by JMD Arquitectos.

We had chosen this system to lightweight the slab system. Specially, we wanted to build faster than with other slab systems.

This one way joist system allowed us to avoid formwork below the precast ribs. Economically, costs reduced about 20%.

Slab system: One way joist system.

In Mexico it’s called as “Vigueta y Bovedilla”. This slight and economic system was created specially to reduce weight (dead loads) due to void spaces formed between the ribs.

Proportionally, seismic loads reduces with the lost of weight which is a plus reducing construction costs. Talking about construction, it’s not always necessary to cast using formwork below the slab.
